Easter Egg Booga Bag

Here is something I whipped up real fast like!

Project Specs:

Pattern: "Booga Bag" from Black Sheep Bags

Yarn: Patons SWS in the Natural Pink Color Way

Measurements: Before Felting...
Bag:(body)19"h x 15 1/2"w (bottom)12"w x 6 1/2"h

Straps: 68"

After Felting.....
Bag: 10 1/2" x 9" x 5 1/2"
Straps: 35"

Needles: Addi Turbo size 11 24" circulars

Started: March 24, 2007
Finished: March 31, 2007

This was a super fun knit. Everyone kept calling it my giant Easter Egg... well now you know how I got the title. I love love love how Patons SWS yarn felts. It just comes out perfect, except for the little hair cut that you have to give it. But so worth it in the end!

I did do a couple of things different on this bag. One I used 1/2 size bigger needles. Two I casted on 40 stitches instead of the 34. I made the bottom also taller because the Patons shrink majorly in the height wise. Instead of doing on solid handle and cutting it in half, I did two separate handles. I also used the Wonder Knitter that I picked up at Michaels last Saturday. That was so cool. Took only a couple of hours to make up the I cords!

If you havent made a booga yet, then get to knitting one! You will have fun with the mindless knitting of it!

Later Jelly Beans!

It's very springy. It doesn't so much look like an easter egg now that it's felted, but it sure did before. It very pretty.

FYI: You called it mindless knitting. Sadly, it wasn't for me. I had a heck of time figuring out how to pick up stitches around the bottom! There. Now you all know how 'special' I am. ; )
I did finally manage to get it together and have made 3 Boogas to date. All with the pickups done incorrectly. lol.

So cute! I love the colors! :) I'm rapidly becoming jealous of your wonderful collection of felted bags! :D
(I live in an apt with expensive coin-operated laundry machines so no felting for me as of yet... Will have to make use of my parents' machines when I visit one of these days...)

Nice!
Does felting destroy your washing machine?
