Saturday Sky

Evening all. Lots to tell you about today. But first I will start with my Saturday Sky shot. I took it this afternoon at my son's last football game of this season(more about this in a min). Anyways the skies above the football field was just spectacular. I took about 6 different shots before deciding which one I liked the best. This one here was just perfect!! Coming soon a Saturday Sky Flickr Badge...Stay tuned!!

On to last nite..... Last nite the Middle School Band got to march over to the football field and play with the High School Band before the Varisty Game. They get to do this every year. Kind of get them ready for when they have
to do it in High School. Its a great tradition!! This year my hubby and I have been marching over with them... Just to make sure the traffic dont run the kids over and big bonus... We get in Free!!! Yay!! It was definitely a chilly nite for marching and for football. I shivered my butt off waiting for the band to play. Nope I didnt get to do any knitting as this is a nite game and it is too crowded to do this kind of thing there. I showed my school spirit by wearing my Rockets sweatshirt and had a blanket but I was still cold. Every year I get a new hoodie/sweatshirt and every year I tell my kids that I wont get a new one next year. Well guess what?? I got a new one this year!!hehe... I tried to get a picture of it but Rascal was just not going to let me take this picture without him. And I am more than sure I will probably end of getting a new one next year again. LOL Needless to say we came home early cause of the cold. Now they were winning when we left 7-6 but last nite on the news we seen that they got beat 27-7... Poor dears!! Maybe next week will be there week considering it is Homecoming!!

This am I had to get up bright and early. Well I overslept a little bit, but I think that is cause I was so cold when we came home last nite that I just couldnt go to sleep. Anyways my daughter had to get ready for Marching Competition in Geneseo today. They dont actually do their thing until 7:30 tonite and she wont be home until really late. They are suppose to have all kinds of classes and such stuff for the students. I am sure she is having a blast!! I will get to hear all about it tomorrow.. Would really have liked to gone to it. Maybe next year. The one festival that I will be definitely going to is the one at Northern Illinois University. This one is really awesome!!

After dropping off the daughter I made a quick trip to the store and g
ot st uff to make chili in the crockpot. I came home and got that going. While waiting for my son to get ready to leave for his last and finally football game I got some good mail. Andi over at Hooked on String had a contest and I won. She was very generous with her gifts. I received one of them in the mail today. It was a gift certicate to Patternworks. Thank you soo much!! I am going to have fun deciding what to get. Geez so much to choose from.. Thinking maybe some more sock yarn??? Not sure yet!! Wi ll let you know when I finally decide. Thank you very much Andi!!

Ok this will be my third and last time mentioning this... Today was my son's last football game of the year!!! Yay!!! They had a pretty good year overall for them. But needless to say they lost the last one. Not that they didnt give it their best and they did!!! Just the team they played was unbeatened. They had some awesome throws and catches.. They boys did an EXCELLENT JOB!!!!! Well anyways the score was 28-18. Next year they will be in high school. Cant wait to see what they do then!! This is going to be interesting! Just wait and see!! We have wrestling in a few months. Stay tuned for that exciting adventure.

Since he had to be at the football field for most of the day I did manage to get quite a bit done on my booga bag. This Patons SWS yarn is making some beautiful striping design on this bag. I am just about done with it now. Hopefully tonite I will get it finished and make the I-cord for it. Then tomorrow I can do a little felting after I take my daughter shoe shopping(will explain more about this tomorrow). Doesnt it look just smashing?? I love this colorway. It is really neat watching how the stripes are going.

Well that is about it for me tonite. I know this was along post... but you know who it is sometimes. I am off to do a little knitting and watching tv. Wont get to bed til late tonite, so I should get quite a bit done.

Have a great nite all!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!

A Sock and a Start of a Booga Bag!

Afternoon Everyone!! Long time no see. Sorry I havent been around for the last couple of days. I have had many things going on in my little world.

Tuesday found me spending the whole day with the lady. She had many appointments that day and did a little shopping like normal. It was one of those long days. Came home to a clean house with most of the laundry done. My husband was being a real sweetie to me that day. Well most days that I work you will find that he has done the dishwasher and some laundry. This day he actually even folded the laundry instead of stacking it in the baskets. I worked on the cable afghan all day while waiting for the lady. But I ripped it out. Just didnt look right and had some wholes where I dont think there should be. I am going to try and rework it but right now have a couple of other projects that I need to give my full attention too.

Wednesday I did a little shopping with my hubby. Had to get some more memory for my computer and I got a new wireless mouse and keyboard. This is really nice. So now when I ground the kids from the computer I can just hide the mouse and keyboard and they wont be able to get on....hehehehe!!!!!

I did manage to get some knitting done last nite. I worked on my sock some more and I am finally in to the repeat rounds of the leg. Which is really nice. Dont have to keep looking at the pattern and try to figure out where I am at. Plus you can finally see the beautiful diamond design. I really love this and I cant wait to get at least one sock done. I am learning alot from doing this.. Plus on October 1st starts Socktoberfest, which I signed up to be a part of.. Will post more about that come Sunday.

Last nite after working on my sock for a while, I decided to play around with the Patons SWS and see what I could come up with. I got some more of it when I went to Rockford last week. This time I got the Earth color. I wanted to see how well it felted so I knitted up a sample swatch last nite to try and see how it came out. There is a reason I wanted to see and I will explain in a min.... I didnt get to do the felting last nite, but I did do it this am while the kids were getting ready for school. As you can see with the first picture the stitches are very defined(plus just a beautiful color). This piece measures 3 1/4 by 2 1/2. The first time through the wash cycle it only shrunk by a 1/4". Which isnt too bad, but I wanted it to shrink just a tad bit more and you could still really see the stitches. Not really want I wanted still. So through a second wash cycle it went. This time it came out just right. It shrunk another 1/4" and this time it really looks felted. Now this is more like it. After felting measurements are 2 3/4" by 2". Plus it is alot thicker than when I felted my marsupial tote.

Now for the reason why I was testing it. A couple of my pals, AJ and Karen, are making the Booga Bag. I really love the look of this bag and thought the Patons SWS would be good for it, exspecially with the striping that it does on its own(I know this from AJ working with it, Thanks!!) And secondly I think this would be a great gift to send to my Secret Pal in my reveal box, even though its not crocheted I think she will love it. Plus the color is just perfect for the fall theme. Anyways, back to the bag. Now reading what other people of said about this I decided that I wanted it a tad bit bigger. So instead of casting on 34 I did 50. I havent gotten much further, just like 15 rows. But it is looking good so far and the stripes could not be any better!!

I had to work a couple of hours today. Hubby went with his dad to the doctor and on their way home they stopped at Village Inn for lunch. Well if you ever get to go there you have to try the Peanut Butter Pie... It is to die for!!! I love this stuff more than pecan(and I really love this pie too)!!! He was such a sweetie today and brought me home a Peanut Butter Pie. I just soo love him today!! Also when I got home I got a nice thank you card and bookmark in the mail from my Winter Scarf Pal. That was really sweet of her. Thank you very much!!!

Now I am off to doing the mother yelling at the teenager thing. I think high school is going to be the death of me if my daughter dont straighten up and fly right. I really just dont understand I guess...Well I will save this for another day when I dont have anything to talk about.

Have a great nite Jelly Beans!!!

Saturday (Sunday) Sky & Oatmeal Cookies

Morning all!! I was a bad girl yesterday. I kept looking at the sky all day. Thinking this would make an awesome Saturday Sky shot. Well I forgot to take it with me and I forgot all about getting a picture until late last nite. Having one of them days where you think of it and then forget all about it till its too late. So today I give you Saturday (Sunday) Sky picture.

Its a beautiful fall day. The air is crisp and there is a slight breeze about. Makes for a really nice baking day. And that is what I have done this am. I made some more oatmeal cookies. You ask more.. but I dont remember you making any this week. Well I did. I made some on Wednesday afternoon and they were gone by Thursday afternoon. I even made a double batch. Now I did have my share but my hubby told me the reason they ate them so fast is because I only make them once a year... Yea Right!!! Ok I will confuse that I havent made them in quite a while, but come on people you can make them last more than one day!! I have to admit they are pretty good cookies if I do say so myself. I use just a tad bit of fresh ground nutmeg in them and it gives them that extra yum!!

I have been working on my snowflake scarf. I got it almost all the way done and ran out of the red yarn. I called the store that I got it from and she is willing to send me another skein so I dont have to make the drive up there for just that. She is a really nice lady. Also been steadly working on my sock. I have another 10 rows done. This I have a feeling is gonna take me a while to do. I had to rip out a couple of rows last nite cause I forgot to yarn over in one spot. But that is ok.. it wasnt too bad. I figured since everyone else is doing it why not start one more project...LOL I need a project that is mindless and not to difficult to drop in the middle of a row, so with that in mind I decided to start a knitted afghan. Somthing that I can work on while working with the lady. Its called Cable Classic (note in the side bar I added that and there is pic if you click on the name). I bought these huge skeins of Red Heart yarn a while back.. the color is Barn Red. I have more than enough of this one to make it with. I have been waiting for the perfect project for this yarn and this is the one. As soon as I get some more rows onto it I will post a pic of it.

Yesterday I took a drive over to Fulton and found another yarn store. Well actually I found her through Cascade Yarns website. Its really nice to know that there is a couple of other stores within my driving range that sell the good yarn. Plus she spins her on stuff too. A week from Thursday is the Fiber Guild meeting and she goes to it. So I will get to see some of her stuff. I cant wait!! I did pick up 2 skeins of yarn for my squirrel.

Well that is about it for me. I have laundry and a little lite cleaning to do. Plus I have some studying to do... will explain more on that at a later date.

Have a great day Jelly Beans!!!

I'm Carrot Cake!!

I got this in an email the other day and I think it is pretty cute and very accurate. At least for me it was.

*Note this is not my picture, one I found on the web.

If all of the desserts listed below were sitting in front of you, which would you choose (sorry, you can only pick one!) Trust me....this is very accurate. Pick your dessert, and then look to see what psychiatrists think about you.

Here are your choices:
1. Angel Food Cake
2. Brownies
3. Lemon Meringue
4. Vanilla Cake With Chocolate Icing
5. Strawberry Short Cake
6. Chocolate on Chocolate
7. Ice Cream
8. Carrot Cake

OK - Now that you've made your choice this is what the research says about you...

1. ANGEL FOOD CAKE -- Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times.

2. BROWNIES -- You are adventurous, love new ideas, and are a champion of underdogs and a slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up you whip out your saber. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humor and direction. You tend to be very loyal.

3. LEMON MERINGUE -- Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.

4. VANILLA CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE ICING -- Fun-loving, sassy, humorous, not very grounded in life; very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad. However, you are a friend for life.

5. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE -- Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people, can be counted on in a pinch and expect the same in return. Intuitively keen. Can be very emotional.

6. CHOCOLATE ON CHOCOLATE -- Sexy; always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You can appear to have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh.

7. ICE CREAM -- You like sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to give up the remote control. You tend to be self-centered and high maintenance.

8. CARROT CAKE -- You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

Leave me a note letting me know what kind you are!! Have a Great Day Jelly Beans!!

Found my Squirrel!!

Today I made a trip to Rockford. It was a really nice drive, just me by myself. No teenage daughter wanting to go here and there or no buy me this, buy me that. I needed to get a study guide for nursing assistant and the only place that I could find it was at Barnes & Noble. (More about the nursing assistant in a future post.) Anyways while I was there I thought I would take a looksie at the magazine section to see if they by chance still had the knitting magazine with the squirrel in it. Guess what... They did!!! It was the only one they had a couple of weeks ago when I went and it was still there. Yay!! Isnt that squirrel just so adorable??? Well this time I bought the magazine and I got another one called "Knit 'N Style". This one has quite a few cute sweaters in it. A couple that I may try to make sooner or later. Plus while I was in the city I swung into Michaels and got some more of the Paton SWS and some Paton wool and a few other odds 'n ends.

After I got home I made up some marinara sauce for my goulash. Ran the kids to here and there for football and band practice. Now I am off to do a little knitting and watch one of my favorite shows, "Greys Anatomy". Its gonna be a good one tonite. I can feel it..

Have a great nite all!!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!

Beginning of a Sock

Afternoon all. We are getting some beautiful fall weather, but with that comes allergies acting up and getting sick. For the last couple of days I havent totally felt too good. And we got some bad news about my father-in-law. But that is for another day.

While not quite feeling to good I did manage to get some knitting done. I have been slowly progressing on my scarf. I am mainly working on that while I am driving the lady to her appointments and all, since it is just basic knit and purl right now. It is slowly getting bigger. Not looking too bad. I do love this scarf and I think it will look great once it is totally done. The only thing I am worried about is blocking it. I have never really blocked any kind of yarn project before, just the thread stuff for doilies. So any advice out there about this would be great!! I am still really tickled about seeing the snowflake design. hehehehe!! The simply things make me happy!!

On to the title of this post. I started work on my "Victorian Diamond Top Socks" from Knit Picks. It is slowly progressing. I have never worked with dpns before let alone this small of needles, size 1. But I think I am finally getting the hang of it. I hate starting out with easy stuff so I jumped head first into the pattern I liked the best. This is it. I love the feel of the yarn that I am using for it too and the shade of green is perfect for me. The closeup picture is a little blurry, but when I get more done I will post a better pic. It sure is taking a long time to get this far. Still kind of slow with the knitting thing and working with needles sticking out every which way and going up my nose and everything else, well you know... It is fun learning though.

Be back later with what I did today...................................

Marsupial Tote Done!!

Evening all. Sorry I didnt get this posted first thing this am, but I got sidetracked. I got up and decided that my house needed a good deep cleaning. And that is what I did all day long today. Up til I cooked dinner. So here you go!!

Remember the other day when I posted about the Marsupial Tote. Well last nite I got it felted. It came out just perfect for my first time felting. I used the Galway Wool yarn that I got up in Oregon. This yarn felts wonderfully. It measured 15"x16" before felting. After felting it measured 10"x10 1/2". I did not care for the little coin purse so I cut it out when it was done. I really enjoyed doing this and I have enough yarn left to make another one just switch the colors around. I am completely in love with felting and I will be felting more in the future. This is just amazing process and awesome to do. Dont even look like something that I knitted. If you have not felted anything yet... go for it. Super easy to do!! Guarnteed you will be hooked!!!

Not much else today to report. I plan on parking my butt on the couch and watching a little tv and knitting some. Not feeling too good now. This wind that we are getting plus all the cleaning I did today kicked up the allergies. Oh well, that is life.

By the way.... It has been brought to my attention that the title of my blog doesnt suit what I have been doing here lately. I really dont think I will be giving up knitting anytime soon. I really am enjoying it more and more. So what I wonder is what would be a good name for my blog combining the two things I love to do now together??? Any ideas??

Well that is it for me. Have a great nite all!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!!!!!

Winter Scarf Swap

Evening all. I have had a pretty good Sunday today. Rascal woke me up early cause he loves me. I really dont remember Pumpkin doing this to me when he was a kitten. But Rascal definitely thinks that I shouldnt sleep in even if it is a weekend. After getting woke up by the kitten, I started a little laundry. I had to run to the store to grab a couple of things to get dinner started.

Today we had a chuck roast and it takes all day to cook on the stove top. This is really good this way though. For those that are interested recipe is as follows:

One good size Chuck Roast
1 packet of Lipton Recipe Secret Onion and Mushroom, or whatever you like (found in the soup aisle)
1 large can beef broth
1 can mushrooms, drained
onion, sliced into wedges

In a large dutch oven over high heat, drizzle bottom of pan with a little olive oil and brown roast on all sides. Sprinkle the packet of Lipton Recipe Secret over roast. Pour in beef broth, mushrooms and onion. Reduce heat to low. Cook over low heat, I dont know.. I usually start it by 10:30am and then it is done at 5. Remember to turn the roast every so often. You dont want it to boil... just simmer. The liquid cooks down enough that once you take the roast o
ut you can add some cornstarch to the liquid and make a gravy lump free. Eat and enjoy!! The best roast you will ever have with awesome flavor.

Ok on to some crocheting and knitting things..... My winter scarf sw
ap partner got her scarf yesterday. And she loved it. So I get to share it with you. This pattern I used for it came from Lion Brand Yarn Just Scarves. This is a cute little book with many different style scarves in it. I made this one with the colors and everything that it suggested. I wasnt too sure about the green part but after I did it I am glad I added that part too. I really love it... enough so that I will be making myself one sometime. It is super soft and very thick. I did make it a tad bit too long, but she loved it anyways. Living in New York I guess gets pretty cold. Check out the book if you get a chance. I am sure you will love it.

The rest of my day was spent playing taxi for my kids, laundry(which I am still not caught up on) and knitting. I got the Marsupial tote all the way done. But you will have to wait til tomorrow for me to tell you all about it....hehehehe... Yes you have to wait!! LOL I want to take pics in the daylight and I want it completely dry. So stay tuned!!

I am working on my snowflake scarf now. And I am hoping to get it done sometime this week. I want to get started on my socks. Will tell more about that later.

Thats it for me tonite. Have a great nite all!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!!!

Peace Rose

I took this picture yesterday afternoon when I realized how beautiful my Peace Rose looked this year. This is one of my favorites. I dont usually get that many blooms from this bush, but when I do they are breathtakingly stunning. They also have the best smell out of the bunch!! Just wanted to share this with you!!

Saturday Sky

Here ya go Michelle. I was trying to think of where would be the best place between these two towns, the one I live in and the other that is across the bridge(1 whole mile) to take the picture. I figured it out!! The best place is right in the middle between the 2 towns. You are looking at a sky shot with the Rock River and the bridge that connects the towns together. I took this about 6:30 tonite. Thought it was a very beautiful end to my day!! Have a great nite all!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!!

Marsupial Tote

Lookie what I got done today. After we found our seats for the parade and before the parade actually started I worked on my tote. I took it off the needles this evening in between running kids to the movies and babysitting. I still have to make the little coin purse, which is on the needles and the I cord for it. I should have that done in the morning and be able to felt tomorrow afternoon. This turned out really nice. I do have one knitting question for the knitters out there. When you knit in the round and you bind off, is there anyway to do the last one so it doesnt look like you just ended it?? Does that make sense?? Any and all opinions are nice. Thanks!! I will give all the measurements for this tomorrow. I just have faith that I will knit 'r done!! hehehe Til then!!!

Fiesta Day Parade

Evening all. This turned out to be a beautiful, but windy day. We left the house around noon thirty to get my daughter to the high school. Then came home to get the son and all his gear to head off to the middle school. Both my kids are in band and both had to march today.

After dropping the kids off hubby and I went to park the car and find us a spot to sit. We got a nice shady spot right across from the food places. Hubby's idea not mine. They serve up the best tacos on this day. Plus we know the lady that does the cooking...hubby's Aunt!!

Anyways, in this first picture you can see the color guard in the dress clothes.

Here is Rock Falls antique firetruck...... You will notice a theme here of not taking any pics of the other towns stuff... Dont ask why I didnt but I didnt!!

The next pic is of a Model A.. I have this thing for antique cars. So I will always take a pic of them.

Now the main reason I go and watch this parade is for my kids who are marching in the band. They do an awesome job of this. The green and black is the high school. My daugther is in the middle row third one back. She seen me holding the camera and she wasnt playing so she stuck her tongue out at me.. Brat!! I tried to get a better picture of her cause she was in the middle but that didnt work out to well. She is not the front one here but the next person over. She really tried to get out of this today. Praying for rain and injury. Anything not to have to march today!! Dont ask me why but she was. They did do a good job though.

Next is my son. Middle school colors are blue and white. Their band teacher is one of the best around this area. She does alot of good things with the kids. My son this year is so proud. He got to be in the front row, right corner. The person in this spot sets the pace for the rest of the band. She the person with blue shirt white pants, that is their teacher and the student right next to her with the sax is my baby!! They sounded amazing!!

I am proud of both of the band classes. They both did a great job!!!

After my son passed by us, we packed it up to go pick him up. He had a football game going on. We got there for the last 9 mins of the game and he didnt think he would get to play. Well he did and they won 34-0.... Way to go BOYS!!!!!! Overall good day!!

Saturday Morning Ramblings`

Morning all!! Just sitting here having a nice cup of java with some Amaretto creamer in it. Yum!! Listening to the teenage brats fighting. We are getting ready to head out for the parade and then the football game. I have dinner cooking in the crockpot. Now I will be posting my Saturday Sky shot later today with the parade pictures.... so dont worry. (You know who you are!! LOL) While at the parade and the game I will be busy knitting, watching, and taking pictures.

Till later. Have a great day!!!

Snowflake Scarf

Evening all. It was a beautiful day for a drive. Guess what I forgot to do today?? That is right I didnt take any pictures on my way up to Oregon. I am sorry. I will try to remember to do that soon. I plan on making more trips up there soon.

The lady that owned the yarn store in Oregon, One More Row, was very helpful and she is really sweet too. We talked for a while and she showed me what I needed to know. Also I asked about a knitting class and she is going to have one come sometime next month. It will be for a sweater, which I really want to knit badly. I am building myself up to that. Ya know starting out with simply things, move up to socks and then sweaters. I found several patterns that I want to make. And even if I dont take the class she said that she would be more than willing to help with whatever questions I have. Well anyways my scarf is coming along nicely. I worked on it this afternoon cause I was really excited about seeing the snowflake design in it. Dont it look good??? I am so in love with this pattern. Plus alot easier than what I thought.

I also worked a little on my tote today. Tomorrow both my kids are marching in the Fiesta Day Parade. So I will have a little wait time to work on my tote. Then right as soon as my son gets done marching it is off to the football game. Busy day for us here.

Well that is about it for me tonite. Have a great nite all!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!

Start of 2 Projects

Evening all. Today has a been a pretty good day overall. Got the kids up and off to school with a few minor problems. But they are teenagers and I guess that goes with the territory. Its all good, I won, that is all that matters! hehehehe...

Anyways after they left for school I had a couple of hours to spare before I had to go to work. So I decided to do a little knitting. Now I know I posted last nite that I started a sock. Well I frogged the sock. I want to get a little more knitting experience under my belt before I tackle the sock. Yes I am a little scared of the sock, but I will eventually get it, but first I have some other projects that should help me get to the sock. So this am I started the Marsupial Tote from SNB Knitter's Handbook. Doing pretty good. I got the bottom all knitted and then have to pick up stitches which I thought would not work out to well, but I did it and got the right number. Next it was on to the right twist, which totally messed it up for the first couple of rows, but got it corrected. Since it is going to be felted though I dont think anyone will notice and I dont feel like frogging all the way to the beginning. So they stay that way... So far I have 4 1/2 inches knitted up and I have 5 1/2 inches to go before changing the color. I have to say that I love knitting in the round. Shouldnt take no time at all to make. Hopefully felting by this Sunday.... Stay tuned for that!!

After work today I did a little shopping and came across the 2007 Calendar Knitting Pattern-a-Day. This calendar is chopped full of really nice knitting projects that I can sink my teeth into. I actually went to Waldens to see if they got any knitting magazines in, I have been searching for this one that I seen when I went to Rockford and I didnt buy it. Now it is driving me nuts cause I cant find it. The reason I want this one so bad you ask and why didnt I buy it when I seen it??? Well first it has a knitted squirrel in it and if you noticed my button for this here blog it has a squirrel on it. The reason for not buying it... well ummm dont have one and now I regret it. I cant even remember the name. Oh well that is life... I am done rambling on about it. It will just drive me even more nuts than what I am in the first place... On to something else now...

Remember yesterday when I posted that the yarn store was closed, well today I called and she said that she would be there tomorrow and she would be more than glad to help me with my knitting questions. So tonite I sat down and started the snowflake scarf. (Side note here... I normally dont tend to start a project until I finish project that I am working on, but this is an exception. I also could say here that AJ is rubbing off on me and it is all her fault...hehehehe Anyways not to worry I will finish the bag before I finish my scarf.) I would just like someone to show me hands on how to read the charts for knitting and make sure that I am doing the color changing the right way. I know it is very similar but there is a slight difference so I want help. Plus I will also get to ask questions about the sock too....

Well that is about it for me tonite. Tomorrow on my way up there and back I am going to remember to take my camera and take some pictures. It is just a really pretty ride up and back. That is unless I have a brain fart and forget, which I do alot of sometimes, so some of ya may want to remind me of things from time to time... This also could be a sign of old age....hmmmmm!

Have a great nite all!!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!

Wonderful Goodies

Evening all. I made it to the yarn store only to find it closed. I dont know what the deal is with me and yarn stores being closed when I have to drive forever to get to them. But luckily there is another store there in Oregon. This one is called Stitches in Time. Basically a quilting store, but she does do some of her own spinning and carries knitting supplies. And she has a great selection of yarn. Mostly Casscade wool yarn and some other wool. Ok so mostly all the yarn that she has is wool. Which is great for someone who is going to do her first felting project soon and if that said person really likes felting, which I am sure she will. She will need to do some more driving to get more of the yummy wool goodness. This place also carries a pretty nice selection of knitting needles, except for maybe the one size that I was looking for in the bamboo needles. That would be the size 3 dpns. (love that I am learning all the abb. for knitting and all...hehehe) But she did have some on order and the lady is more than willing to send them to me as soon as them come in, about a week from now. I did bring home with me some really pretty red and white Casscade yarn for a snowflake scarf that I want to make. (havent added this project to the sidebar yet) And also some really lovely sock yarn that looked just perfect for fall. I just love the orangish rust color of this stuff. I will be trying to go back to the other yarn store on Friday as I would like some help with the knitting, even though I get great help from friends online, seeing it in person would be awesome. So hopefully, knock on wood she will be open on Friday.

When I got home from there we were still without power. So I sat down and did some more crocheting on the scarf for the winter scarf swap. I am happy to report that it will be going in the mail in the morning. I got it completely done. The only think is I think I made it a tad bit too long. But oh well I am sure that she will love it. Will post pictures as soon as I know she has it.

When hubby got home from friends we ran out to lunch. After lunch I came home to goodies in the mail. First I got my other pattern book that I ordered off of ebay, Mr. & Mrs. Santa Bears. Also last Friday I placed an order with Knitpicks for some yarn for the shrug(see sidebar) it got here today. Now I have heard from several people that it takes them a while, but this is not one of those times. I am very happy with their service. Extremely fast for me. Now the one that really just blows my mind away is Joanns. I placed the order on Sunday nite and I received all my knitting needles, cable needles, and a needle felting kit today. That was the quickest service that I have ever gotten. I forgot to take a pic of the kitty needle felting kit that I am going to try so you will have to wait for the finished object. Trust me its cute!!

Well that is about it for me tonite. I did start up a sock, but it will be a little while before I post that. So stay tuned all!! Have a great nite all!!

Off to the Yarn Store

Morning all. Yesterday was a normal everyday thing. I did find this really nice Knit It! Magazine. It has lots of cute scarves and this adorable stocking in it. I am off to the yarn store today since the power company is going to be working on rerouting everything. Be back later to give you all the juicy details. Hopefully she will be able to help me with a couple of knitting questions that I have.

Til later Jelly Beans!!!

Secret Pal Box Received

Evening all. This has turned out to be a pretty good day for me. Rained a little for the first part of the day, but turned out to be nice this afternoon.

Didnt really do much of anything today. Some cleaning and laundry. The normal everyday stuff. I also tinkered around with my blog and added a couple of sections on my side bar. First one I added is a projects list. This is some of the things that I want to make and I will be adding and removing as time goes along. Most things have links to what they look like. And I more than likely not going to do in the colors that the pictures show. Also I added a flickr badge of all my completed projects. Take a look at all my pretties.

While doing laundry and tinkering I was stalking the mailman cause my secret pal mentioned that I should be getting a box soon. Guess what?? It came today. Lookie what my Secret Pal sent me. A box full of goodies.. I am sooo excited to get this. Thank you soooo MUCH!!!!! She sent me a whole bunch of stuff for my kitchen. My favorite is the chicken casserole dish cover. It is super cute. And I love all the colors she picked. They are just perfect for me. Awesome stitching and all. You are very good!!!!!!! Just love it all!!! Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!

Also before I forget....... My son's team finally WON A GAME YESTERDAY!!!!! 36-16 They just plain out right finally kicked some ass!!! I am very proud. Hopefully it will happen again soon. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Well that is it for me. I am still working on the scarf. Just about done with it now. Soon I promise to have pics soon!

Have a great nite all!!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!

Saturday Sky & Everything Else

Saturday Sky was looking pretty good today. Nice wispy clouds, cool breeze and the sun was shining. Just an overall beautiful day, until this evening when it got dark and started tinkling on us. Still nice crisp nite. I love fall when the weather starts to change. Just heavenly.

Speaking of heavenly you should have smelled my house this am. I got up and did a little reading and decided that it was cool enough to make up some yummy banana bread. Plus it didnt help that I told the hubby that I would make him some. This recipe that I use I got from my neighbor and she puts sour cream in it. Boy oh boy does
that make it the mositest bread I have ever had. There isnt much left. Have to make up some more soon. I am in the mood for fall baking. I was gonna make oatmeal cookies today, but I never did get to it, so tomorrow those will get down.

Nothing much else happening in my world today. Did a little shopping at Wally World and found some Axe gift set clearanced out for 5 bucks and figured that was a good deal for 2 bottles of the body wash for my son and hubby and it came with the coolest looking rubber duck I have ever seen.. Ok I really got it for the rubber duck. But isnt he wicked awesome!!! Shades and all he is one bad duckie. I never had cool stuff like this when I was a kid. Hey AJ do you think your boys would like him... If so just say the word and he will go airbound!!! LOL

Let see in the crochet department..... I am working on my winter scarf swap. I have it about half way done. I still cant post pictures of it yet, but you know I will as soon as my swap partner gets it. And I want to get my pumpkin teddy bear outfit made too.

Knitting de
partment....... I was playing around with two colors knitting. It really isnt too bad to do. It will take lots of practice though to do like socks or a sweater or something of this nature. I want to get really good so one day I can make that fair isle afghan that I posted about yesterday. Plus I am going to be making my kitties some knitted stockings and those have more than 2 colors. So I start out with 2 and work my way up. Not bad for the first time, huh??? Front to the left and back to the right. I will practice more. As soon as I get the scarf done I will be working on my knitted felted bag. Oh I forgot I ordered some sock yarn today.. AJ has inspired me to make some socks. I cant wait to get started on those too.

So many projects, so little time. I will get them all done even if it kills me, well maybe not kill me but you get the picture. Well that is it for me tonite. Have a great nite all!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!

What Part of Fall are You????

You Are Apple Cider

Smooth and comforting. But downright nasty when cold.

Forgot something

Ok I did forget to mention one little tiny detail about tonite..... ARe you ready????

I have the whole house to myself tonite. My kids and hubby are at the High School football game, yes I normally go, but I am soooo tired that I decided to stay home tonite..

OHHHHHH THE PEACE AND QUIET!!!!!!! Feels like heaven!!!!!!!!

Have a great nite all!!!!

Hmmmmmmmm

Hello everyone... Nope I didnt run away, just have had alot of stuff on my plate again. I am hoping that things will calm down again for a couple of months after next week. We will see. Have I ever mentioned that I really HATE insurance companies??? No, well I do!!!!

Ok where to begin.....hmmmmmmm..... Well lets start with the share-a-square afghan. I couldnt sleep last nite so I did a mad dash on joining all the squares together. I did the flat braid method that AJ told me about. I really like this and I will definitely use this again for another afghan. Very easy to do and fast. I got it all done this am. Last nite I let my hubby draw a name out of the hat to see which of us lucky ladies gets the afghan. The winner was Theresa from my Cal Pals group. Enjoy it Theresa. I got it all sent out to her this am already.

In Cal Pals this week they were talking about how many people do the ebay thing. Well I am one of those persons that does it in spurts. I have bought lots of patterns, yarn, and some odds 'n ends off of there. I have also sold stuff on ebay. Never really have had a problem. Matter of fact I got very lucky this week. I came across a pattern book that had some knitted and crocheted afghans in it for a whole whooping $.16. Yep that is right. So I bidded on it and found out that the lady selling it is from my town. I sent her a message and asked if she could just drop it off to me or I could pick it up from her. That was agreeable and guess what??? When she dropped it off she just gave it to me. Wasnt that super sweet. I am sooooo glad I got it though. There is a fair isle afghan in this book and I am in love with this kind of pattern. Its a beauty and one day I will make it. Its the blue one in the middle. Plus I got this other pattern book that I will blog about when it gets here. Dont you just love good deals???

Also last nite when I couldnt sleep I decided to play around with my new wool I got and knitted a little swatch up to see how well these yarns would felt. I just did a couple of rows of each kind. Before felting it measured 3x2 3/4, now it dont look it by the first pic, but that is cause the sides were rolled up when I took the pick. It shrank down to 2x2 1/4. They all did a wonderful job. I cant wait to get started on something with the wool. But I have to finish up my secret pal swap first. I also got involved in a winter scarf swap. I am working on the scarf right now, but you know the rules no seeing until my swap pal gets it first. Which will be soon. Maybe by the end of next week. Promise you will get to see it all very soon.

Lets see any other news to share. Yep one other piece of news. My secret pal sent me an email that a package went postal to me today. I cant wait to see what goodies she sent me. I should have it hopefully by Monday or Tuesday. My poor mailman is gonna think I done lost it....LOL OH well what a way to lose it!!!

Well till tomorrow morning for the Saturday Sky shot... I am outta here!!! Nite all and Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!

Sunday Goodness!!!!!!!

Evening all...... It has been a very long and exciting weekend. And the beginning of this week has been busy as all get out. But I finally have some time to post about my Sunday goodness. And there was lots of it.

First lets start with meeting up with AJ...... This was really great and a blast. She is the sweetest person I could have met. It was more like meeting with a friend that I talk to on a daily basis, but havent seen in years. Which we do talk on a daily basis, but that is besides the point...LOL Anyways this is my take on it and you should check out her *take* on it.

First is was goodies exchange..... Now if you are a regular reader to my blog and to hers you would know that she got us all hooked on making little teeny bears. She makes the most beautiful ones. Opal was one of the beauties that I jokingly said that if we ever did a swap I would love to have...hint hint.... Well guess what.... you guessed it, AJ gave me Opal!!! I love her so much. She is even more beautiful in person. Plus she gave me a knitter knob, magnetic snaps for a purse, and sweet pea lotion that smells heavenly. Thank you soooo much AJ!!

After the gift exchange it was time to do some yarn shopping. The first store on the route was JoAnn's. They had some ok fiber goodness in there. I did pick up a skein of a rusty orange color by TLC, which is better than the bright orange that I had from RH.

Then it was on to Michael's where I scored big time on the fiber goodness end. Let me say that they had the best all time selection of yarn I have ever seen. One in particular that I was looking for was one that my cal pal Maddie mentioned was Patons SWS. I picked up one skein of the natural pink and held on to it walking up and down the yarn aisle. While still holding onto just this one skein we looked at the knitting needles and some beads and then the patterns. BTW I am still holding this one skein...LOL Then I walk back over and proceded to grab several more skeins. I sooooo love this yarn. It is 70% wool and 30% soy and boy oh boy does it feel nice. I really love this color and from what I seen in this *pattern* it works up beautifully. Overall I got some dpn knitting needles, another size of circular needles, and some cute fall buttons. Not too bad I would say. I so wish we would get a Michaels closer to home though....I am dreaming here just ignore me!! LOL

On to Hancocks, which was not that impressive after Michaels. Mary and I had a still disagreement over where to eat lunch... She wanted to go to her favorite only cause it was close to a store that sold prom dresses... go figure she is a teen girl and homecoming is coming up!! But we let AJ decide on I wanted to try something new. Geez this sounds like I dont get out much, doesnt it??? Anyways she picked Cheddars and omg they have the best food that I have tasted in a while. It was fantastic.

After all that we checked out we went to Barnes and Noble and checked out the magazine section. I picked up a crochet one and almost got a knitting one cause it has a squirrel in it but put it back. Now for the life of me I cant remember the name of it. I really should have bought it. Dang it anyhow. Anyways the one I did get had a afghan pattern(the one is the picture) in it which is now added to my want to make list. (this list is getting bigger by the minute) After looking at the magazines we headed back to my favorite section of the book store, the pattern books. I plopped my butt right down with AJ and we preceded to look through the pattern books. Now I was a good girl and limited myself to one book but I did write down a bunch of names that I will be searching on Amazon for. The one I did get is called Lion Brand Yarn Just Scarves. I am involved in a winter scarf swap and I fell in love with some of the patterns in this book. I am sure my swap partner will love the one that I am going to make for her. Stay tuned more about this at a later time!!

Then we ran to Wally World which really isnt worth mention....

This was a blast for me. It was soooo much fun to have someone to go yarn shopping with and when I say someone I mean another adult... I do love my daughter, but you know how it is. Anyways I did have a blast!! Thanks AJ!! I cant wait to do it again!!

Since we were meeting she did bring me the squares from that share-a-square thing that I did a while back. After making all those squares they were going to be put together in one afghan. Well there was enough squares from all the ladies to do two. So I volunteered to put the second one together. Here is what is done so far on it. I hope to have it done by the end of the week. Then I get to draw one lucky ladies name out of a hat and she will get the afghan. I will post pics of it when I get it done. I actually have added more to it tonite already. So stay tuned for this....

Well that is about it for me today. I am tired. Had to work this am and then run around and pay some lovely bills and take son to the doctor for a checkup. He is doing much better and there is no wheezing right now. Thank goodness. Just normal teens fighting like always between him and his sister. Oh well that is life for now. I have to go get finger printed in the morning so I am getting closer.

Thats it for me. Have a great nite all!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!!

Second Saturday Sky and News

Evening all. I was standing outside giving my hubby a hard time this afternoon and looked up at the sky. There was all these beautiful clouds floating over us that I grabbed the camera and took a couple of more pictures. Doesnt look like some cotton floating...LOL

Friday News: I went for the job interview at the bus company. The lady asked me all kinds of questions and we laughed and talked like we had been friends forever. She told me that she really liked me and that I had a bubbly personality. I got the Job!!!!!! Well I still need to get finger printed, get physical, take a class, and take CDL test. I think it will all be fine. I am married to a truck driver and he should know quite a bit....I hope?? !!

After the interview I had to go and get MVR and a DMV at the Drivers License Bureau. OMG.... the wait in there is the worse. I could not believe how many people were there. It was a good hour wait to get up there and talk to someone. Not only that but for the longest time they only had one person working....GEEEZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!! But I got it and went back over to finish filling out some more paper work. They forgot to tell me to get the cdl book to study for the test. And I had to go back over there this am and guess what??? They were closed....I so hate that place.

Last nite was the first home game for our HS football team.... Now I have said this with my son's team and that our coaching really sucks... Well I still stand behind that, but last nite they a good nite and the boys kicked butt 30-16!! Now I hope they win more and I will keep my fingers crossed for them. But I basically went for the band. Thats right.... My daughter is in band and they do a pregame show and a halftime show. Plus they march over from the HS to the football field which is about 5 blocks apart. This is a tradition with them and they have always done it...small towns and all. Anyways, hubby and I helped and walked with the kids over to the field, bonus got in free...eheheheheeh. I was alot of fun. Then after the half time show we are out of there and it is time to drop girls off at local hangout and let them be teens for a little while. Kind of nice. Next year will be my son's turn, plus he will play football too. Definitely will have to pay attention then.

Today was busy sending stuff out as previously posted and getting some stuff together. I am all excited....I get to meet up with one of my blogging buddies, AJ from this life of mine. I whipped up a couple of things to take to her so more than likely she will post about it when she gets home. But I cant wait. She is such a sweet heart and I have a grand time talking to her almost on a daily basis. We are going to do a little yarn shopping and have lunch.

Well that is about it for tonite. I am going to head off to bed to get some sleep, so I will be bright eyed and bushy tail for tomorrow. Have a great nite all and Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!!!

What I sent!!

Ok as everyone who reads my blog knows that I have been getting stuff put together for my secret pal. I finally got the box out in the mail today to her and I thought I would share with yall what I sent. Lets see where to start. Lets begin with the candle drape. I decided that it was fighting to be noticed with the other candle so I found a different one for it. Looks much better on this one. I also picked up another candle called Fireside for her. Oh it smells heavenly too. I got the cookie mix jar all done up and ribbon and instructions and all. Also found those little scarecrow guys for just plain old cuteness value. I was going to send along some pattern books that I picked up and a couple of other notions but I like things to match and they didnt, so next box those will be in it. Over all I think she will love this. Everything came together in the end and that is all that matters.

Also sent Nett's Purse out to her, so she should be getting it by the middle of the week. I hope she likes it..... We will see!!

My Fall Purses!!

I received a box in the mail today from my Fall Purse Swap Partner Linda. She not only made me one purse, but two of them. And she did a beautiful and wonderful job on both of them.... I just LOVE LOVE LOVE them both. Thank You Linda!!! Plus she also sent me a cute Halloween notepad, some little decorations, a Boo Ghost Jar, some Dove Chocolate with Carmel, body spray, a fall candle, and some tea. She really treated me well. I am for sure hooked on this swap stuff. Sooooo much fun!!!! I cant wait for another one!! I will definitely be getting involved in more of these once they getting going. Thank you again Linda for making this very pleasurable!! Till Later All!!!

Saturday Sky

Afternoon All!!! I didnt forget to post my Saturday Sky shot today!! Been really busy running around and getting things mailed out. I will talk all about it later. But for now here is my Saturday Sky. Its a beautiful day here today and the weather is just right. I am baking some acorn squash as I type this and my house smells soooooo yummy. Once the leaves start changing I will get shots of that. Have a great day all!!
