Basket and Candle Drape

Evening all. This day has been a pretty good one in my books. Up until the hubby talks to the lawyer. But then that could turn anyones day. Overall not bad. I got to work for a few hours and crochet in the process.

This am before work I managed to get all that fabric I showed last nite cut into strips to crochet with. I have made several of these baskets over the years. Thought it would be nice to give my fall secret pal a nice basket to hold all the goodies that I am making her in it. I just got it done before I started blogging. It is a super quick crochet project, though time consuming in cutting the fabric, it only takes about an hour and half to make. It takes 3 yards of fabric cut into 1 1/2" strips. Then you secure them together and proceed to crochet like you would normal do with yarn. Now if you have read my blog in the past you will know that I have worked with fabric like this before for a rabbit and an Easter basket. If yo
u have never tried I would give it a whirl.

While I was working today and the lady was at the doctors office I worked on a candle drape. This only takes
about an hour to make and it is really pretty. The only thing that happened with this is I had to frog some of it cause I didnt get the right size beads and had to make a minor adjustment to the pattern to get it to work. The drape looks beautiful and so does the candle, so I am not sure if I will send the drape along with this package. The candle is a show stopper all by its self. So tell me what you think. Should I send the drape or wait til the next package????

Other projects I cant blog about yet. I get to meet up with a friend this weekend. And I dont want her to know what it is before I get to give it to her. And yes she does read my blog...hehehehehehe!!!

The only other exciting news to talk about is tomorrow and my job interview. Still worried, but I think that is in my nature to worry. I just dont show it as much as most people. What happens happens, nothing I can do about it but just wait and see. Everything will get there in due time.

Oh and what about them TEENS!!!! What is their problem??? Are parents just here for them to be mean too??? I dont know but I am sure getting tired of it. But thats ok I will get my revenge tomorrow nite when I help with the band marching over to the football field for the first home game of the season. Tee Hee!!!! Take that you little brat!!

Well that is about it for tonite. My hands are sore from working on the basket and I am tired!! Have a great nite all and Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!!

Fall Purse Swap

Good morning all. Just real quick like this am. But remember last week when I was talking about the fall purse that I made for my swap partner. Well she received it on Monday and loved it and everything else that I put in it. And I wanted to share with you all the lovelyness of it!! I used Lion brand Suede for the outer pocket and handles of the purse and Homespun doubled strand to crochet the body of the purse. The pattern I used was a Lion brand pattern and it came out just a tad bit smaller so I added rows to it to make it bigger. I found some beautiful fall fabric to use for the lining. The fridgies that I made I stuffed in the outer pockets along with tea and some fall scented lotion that I found at Bath and Body Works. Also put a skein the suede in the purse for her to try with a pumpkin candle and some chocolate covered bing cherries(these are to die for). She loved it all!! I am so glad to be able to report that. I was a little worried.

Well til later Jelly Beans!!!

Many Many Many Projects

Evening all. I want to thank everyone for the thoughts on my son. He is getting better and he has to sit out football til next week. He doesnt like it but that is life.

I got my card-a-week from my pal Sue over at Good Yarns today. She sent me this absolutely beautiful bookmark that she made. Thank You Sue!! It was a very nice surprise...also I loved the car
d. I giggled all day over it and my hubby got a laugh out of it too!!!

I have been very busy for the last couple of days. I am getting things ready to send out to my fall secret pal. Been debating on what to make for her and what to send. Found out that it is really hard to come up with ideas for someone that you have never met, just learning about them through emails is really hard. Maybe would have been easier if she had a blog or something, but I think I did a good job so far. And of course I will share it with everyone. First on the agenda is the jar topper. Remember the other day I posted about the new thread project. Well they are done. I made up two of them. Plan on making some cookie mixes in a jar from that recipe book and using the jar toppers I crocheted to put over the lids. They turned out beautiful. The cookie mixes arent made up yet, but you get the idea. Dont worry will post pics of the box before I send it out. Also note the cute little pumpkin candle holder I found today at Menards(will explain later why I was in the man store). They were setting up their Halloween and fall items and came across this cutie. Also note the fabric that the items are sitting on... watch for it in an upcoming post along with the pic of fabric with fall leaves on it. It will be something else that I am going to whip up for her. I really do hope she likes it all. If not I am in trouble!!

The other day when I was driving the lady around, we ran into Krogers to get a few groceries. While we shopping we happened to pass the magazines and I noticed a Crochet World magazine. Just had to stop and take a looksie and the lady said just to grab and she would buy it for me...Thank you Johnnie (she dont read this but I know she heard me). Anyways this one had some really cute things in it and I now have several want to make items... A couple will be made here real soon due to Halloween approaching. One of them is the pumpkins for the napkins. I just love that kind of stuff to make your napkins look a little more personalized. And since I love Teddy Bears and have a collection of them, what better way to dress up a bear than a pumpkin outfit. Arent they just too cute?? I know I have a teddy that is just the right size for it. Something else is the afghan there on the cover, just love the bows. Way toooo cute. That will be another future project. Will probably more than likely do that in americana colors or could you picture that done in yellows and tans....hmmmmm I could put an afghan for decoration purposes in my dining room, right??? LOL

And just to give a little update, I found the perfect fabric for the lining of Nett's purse. As soon as I seen this fabric I knew it was the one and omg I was right. Just perfect!! I will not however post a picture of it till it is Nett's hands. I think it is only fair that she sees the finished product first. So you will have to wait. And my friends dont ask.... I will not share it with you either...LOL

I almost forgot.... I got a job interview for Friday with the school bus company!! I am excited, but scared at the same time. What if those little monsters drive me nuts... Well at least I am going to try and the hours are great hours. I will be home during the daytime to get my cleaning and stuff done and home in time to cook dinner. Plus have the weekends off and all holidays and the summer!!! Well anyways keeping my fingers crossed all goes well Friday. Plus they already know that I have another little part time job and that is not a problem for them... I get to still drive the lady around...WooooHooooo!!!!! I do so love her even when she gets on my nerves. I am sure I get on hers to from time to time...But it is all good!!

Well that is about it for me tonite. I have to work tomorrow.... shopping and doctors appointments. Which means crochet time for Brandy!!! LOL I am going to be working on a candle drape. It will be stunning, so stay tuned!! Nite all and Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!

Monday News

Evening all. We had a small scare over the weekend. Saturday after the game on our way home my son starting coughing. Actually he had been coughing all day but not too bad. Sounded like his asthma was flaring up. So we started in with the inhalers and all. Well on the way home it got a little worse. But still not too bad. We went out to dinner and then he went to his youth group. After I got him home from that it got worse. By the time we got all settled down he couldnt breath. Just happened so fast that I didnt know what was going on. I took him up to the ER and they admitted him. Did some breathing treatments. He had to stay over nite and all of Sunday. What happened was the antibiotic that he was on caused it. He has really bad allergies. Enough so that we have to watch what he eats and everything. Let me say that he added several years to my life. I know one thing for sure I dont want to have to live through that again. With the nuts we knew and if he got hold of something with nuts we always caught it before it got to swelling up his airways. Thankfully he is better today. It will take about a week for him to get back to normal. Which means no football this week....

Today has been spent running kids to school, getting medicine filled for son, running back to school, taking forms to doctors office, and getting a few things from the store. Overall a busy day. Hubby was gone all day though, which was wonderful. I forgot what that was like. I sure will be glad when he gets released from the doctor so he can finally get out of my hair. He had to take his dad to the doctor out in Iowa City. I also managed to get some cleaning done and laundry.

After the kids got out of school my daughter needed to go out to Waldens to get an English to French dictionary. While I was there I got to pick up a couple of books for myself. I have heard a few people talk about this book, Confessions of a Shopaholic. So I am hoping it will be a good book to read... I am not reading this is either cause certain people thought what I was reading was smut, I tell you smut!!! LOL You know who you are....Hugs!!! Plus my daughter wants to read it too. I get it first though.

Also I picked up a recipe book. It is from Gooseberry Patch and it is called Gifts for Giving. It has some really awesome jar recipes to give for gifts. They even have recipes for milk bath stuff, dips, breads, soups and the list goes on. Plus little tag thingies that you can copy and print for the jars. I thought for my secret pal that this would be a great idea and make some crocheted jar toppers to cover the jars with. I think she will really like them. I know some of the recipes I will be trying myself. They all sound sooooo yummy!!!!

And since I am talking about crochet... Here is a little peek at one of them. They are really quick and simply to work up. I have made these before and I loved them. And my friends who got them loved them. Soooo I am hoping my secret pal likes them.

Also I didnt get Netts purse lined yet. I didnt like the fabrice I got for it so I need to go pick something else out. Just didnt look right with the yarn. And yes I am picky... If it dont match I wont be using it. I will get that done tomorrow though. And I wont post a completed picture of it until I get in Netts hands. So stay tuned.... PS also check her out. She has some really good posts on her blog. A definite must read!!

Well that is it for me kiddos!! I am off to bed and the dream world. Have a great nite all!! Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!

Saturday Sky and Trip to Oregon

Evening all. This day has been a rainy, cloudy, muggy, and long day. This am we had to get up and get going right away. My son had a football game in Oregon today and I decided to wait and take my Saturday Sky shots there. I was going to take pictures on the way up, but the weather would not cooperate with me on this plan. Thats ok... Maybe next time. Anways these were taken across the field from football field. Something about a stormy sky to make football more exciting.

While I was in Oregon this afternoon I got to do a little yarn shopping. A few weeks ago I found a brand spanking new yarn store there. The lady that owns it is pretty nice. She offers knitting classes and has one that she is going to be doing for more advance beginners like me
. I want to learn how to knit a sweater so bad that it is not funny. I am getting closer to accomplishing this goal. Anyways she will call me when she gets ready to have the class. Isnt that just too cool??? While I was there I managed to find me some pretty wool that I have been wanting to get for some while now. Now I will get to felt something. Still not quite sure what I am going to knit and felt, I am going to be very picky about this as I dont think my hubby will let me buy wool that often...lol.. I got me some rose pink, medium shade of gray, tan tweed and green tweed. I will be getting a little more if I need it, but first we will find that perfect pattern. Mary also bought herself some pricey yarn. She thought that she had a pattern picked out for it, but was mistaken on what it was. So she is back to the drawing board!!! Stay tuned for that one. I know she will come up with something awesome to make out of it!!

The football game was a bust again today. My son was not too thrilled again, he only got to play a couple of times. They did manage to score this time, but they still lost 14-6. Something is better than 0!! Hopefully one day they will wake up and smell the coffee and change up some of their plays. WE can only hope and pray!!

Remember the start of the purse I showed the other day, the one for Nett. Well I got it off the needles today. I finished it up on the drive up and during the game and on the ride home. I sat down tonite and took it off and sewed up the bottom seam. Tomorrow I will get the liner sewed up and put in the purse... add handles and there you go Nett!! Your beautiful purse. I hope you like it!! I do like how it came out now. Not as bad as I thought it at first would be. A little thicker than mine, but thicker is always better I say with purses. Well anyways by tomorrow nite gets here it will be done.

Not too much else. I did get my purse swap mailed off, so hopefully sometime next week I can show the purse I made for my swap pal. As soon as I know she has it, it will be up... Well that is about it for now. I have to run and pick up my son. So nite all and Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!

An Old Photo!!

Ok one more post for tonite..... Tabby challenged everyone to post a photo from there childhood. After debating and sharing my pics with my friend AJ (check her out... awesome blog). We both agreed that this be the one.... This one is of me at 15 months old. Just ignore the tears its been through alot. But by far the cutest one I have....hehehe. I wouldnt really put up the awful ones and there is some, but I am not going to share those with you!!! LOL

Book Tag

I got tagged by Sue for a Book Tag. The rules are as follows:

1. Grab the nearest book. Dont think, just grab.....
2. Open the page to 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog. (Please include the book and author)
5. Dont you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking it. Dont just pick up whatever is closest to you.
6. Tag 3 people.

Here is what I got.....Yes I love them trashy romance novels!!!! LOL
A Vow to Keep
Elizabeth Bonner

Ok I am going to warn you first.... It ended up being the start of the trashy part of the book.....LMAO!!

Instead of fighting him, Adrienne found herself clutching the front of his tunic and rising up on tiptoe to meet the impassioned thrust of his tongue. His callused hands glided down her back and stroked her satiny skin. He cupped her buttocks and pulled her higher and closer against him.

Ok I am going to tag...... AJ , Michelle , and Karen !!

Sunset & Everything Else!

Evening all. Where to start tonite??? Well first let me say I am feeling much better. Finally got some good sleep.

Wed we went over to our friends with the hot tub and had a few drinks with them. Came home and went to sleep fine and dandy until about 2:30 in the morning and I woke up and couldnt go back to sleep. I dont know why, just couldnt and just about the time I dozed off my alarm went off to get the kids up for school. I was a trooper and got up and got them off to school. Then I had to go to work. We did a little drive around the country thing. Not really any shopping j
ust driving. It was all good. Just so tired that I didnt even cook dinner. But I did sleep like a baby last nite.

Today hubby and I took a drive over to Iowa. It was really nice not to have the kids in the back
seat fighting. We first hit up Hancock's and yes he went into the store with me. I was looking for the purse handles to finish up Nett's purse. I dont really like the yarn I am using for it, but it is turning out nice. I got the last 2 sets of handles they had. While I was there I also picked up another set of bamboo circular knitting needles. Got the size 15 24" ones this time for a felted knitted tote that I want to make. Also got some Lion Brand Tiffany yarn for a teddy bear. This stuff is super soft. I have a fall secret swap pal that I am looking for things for, so I picked up a pendant cutter for both of us. Overall I did fairly well. They really dont have a big selection of yarn. But I know where to get the knitting needles now when I need them. They have just about every size available.

After that hubby and I went to Maid Rite for a lunch of loose meat sandwiches, fries, and I got a chocolate malt. First time in several months that we have been out to lunch by ourselves. I even got him to go into Kohls with me. This was an very relaxing and beautiful day.

Yesterday I got my card-a-week from Sue . This week the theme was a homemade card. I love her interruption of this. She has the best sense of humor. Thank you Sue .

Ok I am going to give you a little crochet update. Here is a few quick little things that I have whipped up and can share with you. First you remember the Teeney Tiny Teddies that I was making. Well I made another one that looks like the one I sent to Karen . Only this one I made a little black scarf for it. I think this one by far turned out the best. I really love making them. And I whipped up a couple of fridgies, one of a pumpkin with leaves and another of a brown eye susan. These are really easy to make and only take about 15 mins or so to crank out.

Ok last but not least tonite. I ran to Wally World(Wal-Mart) to pick up a box and some envelopes to send out some stuff in and as I was coming home I looked up at the sky and seen this sky. It was just stunning and amazing. I drove home as fast as I could and grabbed the camera. The one on the left I pulled into a parking spot and took that shot. People driving by must have thought I was crazy. I tried to drive out of town a little further to see if I could get a better shot. The only way that would have happened is if I could have gotten out in the field. I still got wires in it but oh my stars, it was still stunning. The picture does not do it justice.

Well that is it for me tonite. Tomorrow's Saturday Sky will be lating getting here. We have to drive up to Oregon for my son's football game and I am going to take that one on the way up there. Plus another benefit for my daughter and I is the yarn store will be in the same town. Woooo HOooooo!!!!! Wool yarn here I come!!!! Hehehehehe!! Nite all and Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!

Tricksie the Witch w/ Boo Kitty

Evening all. This day has been pretty good. With the exception for Rascal waking me up before 6 am this morning. The little booger, I thought he out grew that but here lately right around 6 he is meowing at me to get up. I guess he is getting me ready for school. Which by the way starts tomorrow...WOOOO HOOOOO!!! Well for at least one of my lovely teens. Then Thursday its a full day for both of them. Too bad I have to work on Thursday. At least hubby will be able to enjoy the peace and quiet!! Now if I could find someway to get rid of hubby again, like send him back to work all would be well in the universe again....LOL

Anyways, I w
ent to work this am. We actually had a pretty lite day today. The normal getting her hair done. While she was getting her hair done, I started on another purse. This one is not mine, but I am making it for Nett. I hope she likes it. I am not too sure about this yarn that I am using for it. So if ya dont like it tell me now or forever hold your peace.....LOL The color is great, just not sure about the yarn. I am using the Red Heart Light and Lofty and it looks similiar to the Homespun but I dont know... just not quite the same. But it may just be the starting that is throwing me off. I will keep at it and see what happens.

After that we did the normal shopping and bookwork. Then I came home and did nothing. I must not be feeling too good. My tummy is upset again. I know it is probably my nerves, but this time it may be a stomach virus. Different from last time. We will see, if it still feels this way in the morning and I still feel like I am getting the chills then I know it is a virus and not my nerves. Oh well at least its not the ki
ds getting sick and they can still go to school...lol

Well since I cant show the other stuff yet here is some more of my Halloween stuff that I made in the past. This one is Tricksie the Witch with her side kick Boo Kitty. I made them about 8 years ago. The witch took me a week to make. The kitty took 1 day. Also you may see the pumpkin there too. That takes no time whatsoever to do. A couple of hours tops. I really love these guys and they sit with the Halloween afghan, cause no on is allowed to use that one. These patterns came from Leisure Arts books that I bought eons ago. But if you would like to know which ones leave me a comment and I will let you know. I think you can still find them occasionally on Ebay. And they have some other really awesome patterns in them too.

Well that is about it for me tonite. Have a great nite all. Sweet Dreams Jelly Beans!!!!!

MeMe for Jaye!!

Ok here ya go Jaye. This one I am answering just for you!! Are you ready???

1. If you had to set your own work schedule; 8 hours per day; 5 days a week, Which days and hours would you choose??
I would work Monday-Friday from 9-4. That way I can get the kids off in the morning and still be home to cook dinner for them. Those would be the perfect hours for me. Dont do too well real early and I am tired by 8 pm. Sound old, huh??

2. What reality show would you be on and why?

Lets see I would love to be on Surviour. Just to be able to go to some wild exotic place. I probably wouldnt last but it sure would be fun trying, plus I could shed some weight...lol

3. What is the last book that you read?

It was some trashy romance novel called Charleston.

4.There are many songs that bring us back to a certain memory, What song do you hate to hear for that reason?

Dont have a one!!!

5. If you could go back in time to any place in world history, what time would you choose and what country/place??

I would love to live back in the 1700-1800 time. I always felt that I was born in the wrong time error. And I would wont to be in Ireland, Scotland, or England. Just imagine wearing the clothes they did back then and everything. Of course my luck would be a poor serving wench!! LOL

6. Do you know more than one Language? What?

Well kind of sort of. I can say a pray in German that my grandma taught me. And my kids can say it to.

7. What is your favorite blog? Now you said I could give two or three...ok maybe 4...hehehehe

this life of mine
Shabby Chic
Its about nothing
Nothing but Nett

8. What is your favorite web site?

Oceangrams

9. Your house is on fire, the people and the pets you love are safe and you can grab one other thing, what are you taking??

Ok I would have to have help and grab my book shelf so I can get all my photographs. I have too many treasured pictures and some that are really old to leave behind. It would be too hard to replace them. Plus if I had an extra second to pick something else I would grab my magazine rack that holds all my pattern books in it too!!!

10. You had a $100 dollars to spend in the next hour, how would you spend it??

Ok this one is super easy. I would go on a yarn shopping spree!!!!!!! I am dying to do this too and hopefully soon will get to go on one. Not spend a $100 on yarn but you get the picture. I am sooooo deprived!! LOL

Now if anyone by chance comes by and feels they need to do this one, grab and let me know. Til later all!!

Bike Ride

Evening all. I promise this will be my last post for the day.

Today has been a typically Monday. Two teens fighting and trying to take each others heads off. I am praying that Wed gets here fast. That is my son's first day and my daughter starts back on Thursday. Then it will be peaceful in my house once more. Except there is that other child I have that really needs to find a hobby outside of the house..lol I love him though. Everything cant always be perfect.

Today I didnt get much of anything done. Kind of sort of sat on my butt all day. I did some laundry and talked to some friends and thats it. I did make the cake though so that counts for something. But anyways nothing, nada, zip, zero, zlich. Boy I was lazy today. Oh wait I forgot I cleaned out the window ac... that counts too right...LOL

After dinner I went on another bik
e ride and I remembered to take along the camera this time. These pictures are of the Rock River. They have some great fishing here and down the canal. I really love it this time of year with all the ducks and everything in the area. I got to see some beavers the other evening on my ride too. Some spots are great and then there are those that are extremely dirty. But its all part of the charm I gues.. Then we also have this nice park that has that old school house there with the outhouse. Sun was not in a great spot for the picture of the train. I will try and remember to get back over there soon and get another shot of the train. But I more than likely will forget about it so dont hold your breath on that one..lol Hope you like them.

I am going to leave you with my pictures I took. I am going to get off here and do a little crocheting and then hit the sack. I have to work in the morning and not really sure what the lady has up her sleeves.

So til tomorrow. Have a great nite all. Sweet Dreams J
elly Beans!!!

Halloween Afghan

Ok folks.. This is suppose to be my crochet blog/journal. Well I cant really share to much yarn goodness with you right now. Most of what I am making is top secret until it gets in the hands of my swap pals. So for the time being I will post some pictures of my holiday things I have made in the past. The first one up is my Halloween Afghan. I started this one right before 9/11 happened. I remember sitting and watching the news and crocheting. That is all I did for that whole month. I didnt finish it that year. Just got all the squares put together. The following year I added the faces to it. I really love this one. It almost makes me want to keep it out all year long. Tomorrow I will post another past project.

Dessert

Root Beer Float Cake

1 package White Cake Mix
1 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup oil
3 egg whites
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Root Beer-Spiced Whipped Cream (below)
2 Tbsp crushed hard root beer candies

Heat oven to 350. Grease bottom only of 9 x 13 pan. Beat cake mix, water, oil and egg whites until mixed. Reserve 1 cup batter and stir in allspice and cinnamon. Pour remaining batter into pan. Drop spiced batter by tbsps randomly onto batter in pan. Swirl the batters. Bake 28 to 33 mins or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool Completely. Frost with Root Beer-Spiced Whipped Cream. Sprinkle with candies. Store Covered in refrigerator.

Root Beer-Spiced Whipped Cream

1 cup whipping cream
2 tbsps powdered sugar
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Beat all ingredients in chilled bowl with electric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form.

I did a layer cake with mine. But only cause I have a cake plate for a layered cake. Taste just the same. Almost taste like having a Root Beer Float. Enjoy!!

Mary Finished her Filet

Afternoon all. Just a real quick post for right now. I will be back
later with some more for ya. But for right now I would like to brag a bit about my daughter. She finally made her first filet afghan and I think it looks stunning. We had started in a filet cal over at Cal Pals. Mary choose to do the Allure from this *Pattern* book. There is several mistakes in this pattern book. Its from Annies Attic and I am not very pleased with it. There was errors on the graph that she didnt find until just about done with it. You really cant tell by looking at it, but we know it is there. Plus she used the ww yarn instead of sports weight and the size did not come out right. I dont know who did the testing of these patterns but the are messed up. But overall it was nothing that my daughter did. She did great and her friend that she gave the afghan to loved it. When and if I go back to the butterfly filet from this book I will be changing the pattern just a tad bit to make it more afghan size. For one the width is longer than the length.. Oh well.

Well thats it for now... I will be back later with some of my crocheting tidbits and another goodie that Tabby inspired me to make....hehehehe.. Later Jelly Beans!!!

A Little Change

Evening all. Are you ready for Autumn?? I am ready for the cool weather, the leaves changing colors, the raking of leaves, and the smell of burning leaves. Yes I know I am a little weird, but there is just something about it that I love. I cant breath from the smell after a while, but I do love the smell. Which brings me to the next question... How do you like the little fixing up I did here??? Pretty nice huh??? I thought that it would be good for a little fall on my blog so I can get ready for the different holidays with the seasons changing.

With school starting soon...Wednesday for my kids...woooohoooo. It is just starting to feel like fall. Which means in a month I get to start getting my Halloween decorations out. I have some lovely things and as soon as blogger is nice to me again I will start to post some pictures of the things that I have made. But as you can see it wouldnt let me do it tonite. So hopefully tomorrow I will be able to start putting up some pictures for you.

I have been doing some crocheting which I am sorry to say I cant blog about yet. In about a week or so I should be able to tell you all about it. So stay tuned for the up coming crochet news. Until then keep an eye out for the above mentioned crochet items.

Not whole lot happen this weekend. My son missed his football game, due to a breakout on his face. It first started on his cheek about 2 weeks ago and it was getting worse and spreading. We took him to the doctor and found out that it was some kind of bacteria infection and they gave him some medicine for it. The spreading of it was caused from all the sweating that he was doing during football practice and games. Well this last week he missed all practices and the game on Saturday, but his face is just about healed up now, so come Tuesday he should be good to go. He did go watch the game Saturday and he is actually very thankful he didnt play as they got smoked again 36-0. He wasnt quite so thankful before the game though. He fought me hard on this one... but I put down my foot and won the battle and now he is glad I stuck to my guns. Geez he is stubborn. Wonder where he gets it from??? Must be his father...LOL

My daughter is just about done with her filet. She has been working steadily on it all weekend. As I am typing this she is putting the edging on it. She will be posting pictures on her blog and I will post one on here too. Ladies and Gents you should see this. It is stunning and she did an awesome job on it. I am very proud of her. Lets keep our fingers crossed that blogger starts acting right so I can post pictures.

The only other interesting thing that is happening in my world is that I decided I needed to go on a diet and lose some weight. Since my hubby has been home from getting hurt and me quitting smoking I have gained a little weight, but with the added stress that I have been under it hasnt helped. I wont say what my weight is but I would like to lose at least 31 pounds. I am going to add a ticker with my goal to my blog and I am going to weigh in on Sundays. I think this way I will be reminded daily and it will help me. Keeping my fingers crossed I can do this. So with that being said... I am official starting it now. I also started back riding my bike in the evening. I went for a 2 mile ride tonite and I am going to slowly build my self up. With the weather cooling off it will make it nice to ride.

Wed. I did that post about the 2 jobs and everything else. I am not taking the one job. My hubby and I talked about it and I listended to everyone's advice. Thank you. The other news was ok. Cant really talk about it. I just needed to vent some and talk myself through it and it helped. Sometimes I like to ramble so just ignore some of the stuff.

Well that is about it for tonite. I hope everyone had a good weekend and has a great week!! Nite Jelly Beans and Sweet Dreams!!!

6 Weird Things/Habits About Me!

Been tagged again by AJ . If you havent checked her out yet, you really should. Great blog!!

Six Weird Things/Habits About ME!

1. I can't go to sleep at nite until the kids are sleeping. I use to have a really hard time with this when they first started spending nites at friends house.

2. Dinner is ready every nite by 5:30, if not sooner. I can general be found in my kitchen between 4 and 4:30 getting ready to cook, unless I throw something in the crockpot.

3. I have to have the towels folded a certain way. I get a little cranky when they arent.

4. I have to take a shower every morning and I have always made my kids take one then too. Something about starting a day freshly showered to get you going.

5. I never do any cleaning after dinner and the kitchen is straightened up. After dinner is time to relax and calm down from the day. Kind of like punching a time clock... LOL

6. I always give my hubby a kiss when I leave and when I come home. And I always tell the kids and him I love them before they leave to go somewhere or to bed. You never know what is going to happen.

I am suppose to tag someone.... Desperate Housewife considered yourself tagged!!!

Wednesday News

Even all. Lets see how should I start tonite. First off I either have a stomach virus or my nerves are getting the best of me. My stomach has been not feeling so good all day.

Important decisions are being made about hubby tomorrow and I am really nervous on what it going to happen. He goes back to the doctor tomorrow and he was suppose to be released to go back to work. Well that will probably not happen since the insurance company has been fighting with the lawyer and all and he never got to finish his therapy. So I dont think the doctor will release him yet. I am really sick and tired of insurance companies. They dont make no sense at all to me. If they would just have the let doctor do what he needed to do and let my hubby do his therapy he would have been back to work a year or so ago. Now it has become a long drawn out thing and is making me feel very old. On top of hubby going to the doctor, the lawyers go into court tomorrow to fight with the insurance company's lawyer. Just a huge headache if you ask me. We will see what happens.

There is also another important decision that I need to make, well actually a couple but the second I will have to wait and see about it. Ok everybody knows that I have been out searching for a job. I have gone from being picky to down right desperate. I put an application in at this recreation center a week or so ago and also at the school bus company. Ok yes not too great and not my idea of a job, but you do what you got to do. Anyways the recreation center called me today and will hire me and the hours are Tues and Thurs 2-9 and every other weekend. And the pay is awful. Well now my father-in-law called and said that they were looking at my application at the bus company... they pay more plus I would be home in the evenings and I could still work for the lady. My big problem is what if they dont call and I pass up the other job or I take the other job and just start and then they call. What do I do??? I dont think I can handle all of this. It is driving me nuts. Plus I would really like to get some stuff made and maybe start selling it online like several ladies have told me that I should do. Too many to name, you know who you are. Thanks for a great idea. I dont know why I didnt think of it myself. But I still have a decision to make about the other and dont know what to do. Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated. ugh!!!!!

On a happy note... I did manage to complete one of my secret items. Will post about it in more detail once my swap partner gets it. Still deciding on what to make my secret swap pal yet too. My brain is going to be on overload before long!!! CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!!! I need a vacation soon!!!!!!!!

Well that is about it for me tonite. Sorry no pics. Have a great nite all... Sweet Dreams!!!

Been Tagged by AJ and Lucy

I've been tagged! Actually by 2 friends AJ and Lucy.

Finish these 5 sentences:

1. The one household chore I don’t mind doing is - the laundry and vacuuming.

2. The last person that made a surprise visit to my home was - my hubby's Aunt Donna. I could keep my house spotless clean for a whole year and no one would show up and as soon as I let it go for a couple of days... bam there they are.. everyone!!!

3. I cannot comprehend - workman's comp. insurance companies. You know if they would just let the doctors and therapists do what they need to do he would have been back to work a year ago.

4. At this moment I wish - that my husband never got hurt and we were living our normal lives instead of worrying about everything.

5. The last serious discussion I had was with - my hubby about what is going on with the lawyers and insurance companies.

I'm going to tag:Priscilla! And anybody and everybody who wants to do it!! Go for it!!

Working on secret stuff!!

Evening all. Monday was a hectic day. I had to drive the lady around for a couple of hours. Did a little shopping and paying of bills.

Then I came home to fill out papers and listen to my two teens argue. I got them both register for school. My daughter is going to cost a whooping $250.(band, drivers ed, art and book rental fee). Dont worry she wont actually start driving until next summer. Plus they want $42 for a yearbook. Can you believe that??? Thank goodness my son gets on the yearbook staff at the middle school and sells lots of ads. That pays for his. I really cant wait to next Wed gets here and they will be gone for several peaceful hours. In the words of my daughter, "BONCHICKABOWWOW"!!!!

I did manage to get some fiber goodness worked up, which I cant show you at this time. I got involved in a couple of swaps at crochetville. One is the fall purse/tote swap and the other being the Fall Secret Pal swap. This first one I am not too worried about. Make a purse and put some cute fall items in it. Now the secret swap one I am sooo afraid that she wont like what I got her or made for her. And I so dont want this to be a bad experience for her or me. But I have faith in myself that I will do fine. I also received emails from my secret pal and I cant wait to see what she has up her sleeve for me. I will show you soon what I am making though...so stay tuned.

Oh remember my purse from the previous posts, well I had someone offer to buy one from me today. She is going to get it in about 3 weeks. I am sooo excited. I cant believe someone actually really loved it and wants to buy one. How cool is that???

Well that is about it for me tonite. Enjoy the picture of Pumpkin and Rascal laying in my favorite chair. Have a great nite Jelly Beans!!! Sweet Dreams!!

Finished Purse and More!!

Evening all. How was everyones beautiful Sunday. Mine was nice. I got to sleep in a little bit and then it was up and do the normal things. I was a beautiful day out, the sun shining and all.

Yesterday afternoon we took a little ride to watch my son play foo
tball. On the car ride there I finished up my Chinese Charm Bag. Only I didnt use chinese charms on my purse. I do love how this purse turned out. It is just the right size for me. My friend AJ made one too. Only she used wool and felted hers.. I am soo jealous. I want wool to felt. Soon I will get to get some and make me a felted bag. When I do I am going to make the Meema's felted Marsupial Tote from SNB The Knitters Handbook. Until then I will be patient and wait my turn. Only I hate waiting. Maybe in a couple of weeks when my son has a football game in Oregan I can hit that new yarn store that I found the other day... hmmmmmmmm!!!

Here is a couple of shots of the place where my son played his first game yesterday. And keeping with the theme of Saturday Sky, I took another Saturday Sky shot. The one pic of the boys..mine is in the middle with the #71. Let me say this now, this will be the normal scoring for the rest of the football season and if it changes than I will have a heart attack. Our town's coaching system sucks rotten eggs and they dont know how to change the plays for football. The coaches only know four plays and this is including HS and whoever plays them knows their moves. They got beat 36-0... I dont remember a time my sons team actually beat someone. And it is not the boys, they are damn good. It is the coaches who wont change. Oh well, at least my son gets to play and he is happy no matter what. That is all that matters to me.

Also today I decided to rearrange my living room. I usually do this in the fall and spring. Kind of doing a fall cleaning I guess you can say. Nope I di
dnt take any pictures. Maybe tomorrow I will take some and post them. I have to finish washing the windows and dusting. I did get all my yarn mess cleaned. Now that my daughter has her own stash, maybe she will stay out of mine. Keeping fingers crosse, it could happen ya know!! Also I am working on another purse for a Fall purse/tote Swap. I cant show it quite yet, but here is some idea of what it looks like so far, well at least the color of what it will be..hehehehe. Thank you AJ for blurring the picture for me.

Well that is it for now Jelly Beans!! Sweet Dreams and dont let the bed bugs bite!! Til tomorrow!!!

Saturday Sky and Everything Else

Morning all. Here is my beautiful Saturday Sky shot. It is cool out this am and just perfect for a Saturday. Not a cloud in sight.

We are heading out here shortly to go to my son's first football game of the season. It is about an hour and 15 mins from us so it should be a beautiful drive. I will remember to take my camera and take some pictures this am of the drive up there. Will post them later tonite.

Last nite I got my Chinese Charm Bag from SNB The Knitter's Handbook, off the needles. I got the bottom seam sewn up and I am in the process of sewing the lining into the purse. I also added a little pocket on the lining to stick my cell phone in. I love how this purse came out. I should have the handles on it by tonite. Hoping I will get it done on the way to son's football game. And then possible starting on my fall purse swap for my partner. Will post more about that later.

A little update on the job hunting. It is not looking very pretty in our area for jobs. I am still looking and I still havent found anything. Yesterday I hit up a few more places. Hopefully with school starting soon something will open up. I am learning that it is really tough finding a job when you have not been out there in so many years. Next week is a new one and I have a good feeling something good will come my way.

Cant think of anything else right now.. Have a great day all!!!

Chinese Charm Bag from SNB

Evening all. Woke up to a rainy and seemed like cloudy
day. But the day got brighter and nicer as it went along.

I had to go drive the lady today. We took a nice and beautiful (here I would like to say that if I do this again I will promise to take my camera along) ride up to Oregon and the old piano factory. The old piano factory has been turned into a mall of some sorts, with a little bit of this and little bit of that. There was an antique store that we hit and she found a couple of things in there that she liked. We walked around to see if we could find the fabric store that was there and see what else they had.

I came across the most beautiful store ever..... The name is "One More Row" and you guessed it, it was a yarn store... WooooHOoooo!!! There
is now an official yarn store not that far from me. I got to drool a little over some of the delicious yarn goodness that she had there. She is due to get more in so I cant wait to head back up there. (here I would like to state that my son has a football game in this town in 3 weeks....Yay!!)

While in this store I also solved my problem with the knitting needles. Thanks everyone for the help. I had the wrong size and today I purchased
a pair of bamboo ones. Didnt get the ones that the pattern called for cause I couldnt find them, but I did get a size 10 16 inch circular pair. They are working very nice for my Chinese Charm Bag. This is amazingly simply. The only problem I had was with the double cast on. Takes a little getting use to how long to leave the tail. I had to rip it out several times. So any comments on this cast on method will be greatly appreciated... So what do you think??? Not bad for my first knitted purse. ( here I would like to state that I havent made a crocheted purse yet either). I really love how the Homespun yarn pattern and it is super soft. I should have it done tomorrow.

Well that is really about it for the news in my world. Nothing to exciting for dinner tonite... just burgers and fries. I have to get up early again in the morning. My kids think they can party all the time and I am trying to get them in the habit of getting up early again. School starts soon. So they get a 7 am wake up call for the next couple of weeks...I'm a mean mom, huh??? LOL

Nite all and Sweet Dreams!!!

Trying something new!!

Evening all. I made it back.... Today has been one of those days where you really just need to climb back into bed.

First thing this am I did not get good news about the employment agency that I put my application in at. But that is ok... just move on and find something else. Let me say though there is some really rude people out there that need to learn how to do with people better than what they do. Then the lady was just acting like a spoiled teenager and I just could not take that. I know I really dont act like much will bother me, but today things just got on my nerves and I felt like screaming "Calgon Take Me Away!!". I am feeling a little better now... But I cant say why yet. Give me a couple of days and I may get to share some nice news with ya.

After all that today, I came home and sat in my chair and read and talked to a friend which made me feel 100% better. Not that she could do anything, she just listened and it was nice. You know who you are .... Thank You!! Hugs!!

I tried a little experiment for dinner tonite. Kind of my own little throw everything in a pan and call it good dinner. I did like a potato skillet with onions, green peppers, polish sausage, and green beans... It was yummy. So simply to make too. I did boil the potatoes like I would for potato salad so it wouldnt take as long to cook. Everyone loved it. My hubby called it "Poor Mans Dinner"... Kind of like that name...LOL

I am also trying another knitting project, but I am having a heck of a time with it. I know I have a few knitters who read my blog and I am putting the call out to you. I want to make the "Chinese Charm Bag" from SNB The Knitter's Handbook. Instead of using the yarn it calls for I am using Homespun in Sierra. Now my question is I have a pair of size 10 circular needles, which it calls for that, but I lost the paper that came with them umpteen years ago and I cant remember if they are 24 or 32 inch ones. This pattern here you knit in the round and I am guessing

that this is an important question. So if someone out there in blogland can help me with this problem I would greatly appreciate it. I have already ripped it off the needles twice and I would love for third time a charm thing. I am thinking they are 32 inch ones cause the pattern calls for 24 inch and after getting all the stitches on you have to really pull and stretch to be able to do one stitch and it dont look right.... Ok so here us the word....HELP!!! Or I may just add a few extra stitches so it will fit, I may have to do this anyways if I have the bigger ones...As my Wally World dont carry circular needles.

Alrighty then... that is about it for tonite... Gonna go back to scratching the head to see if I can figure it out and just be patient and wait. Thanks everyone!! Have a great nite all!!!!!!! Sweet Dreams!!

White Trash Test!!! LOL

I am 16% White Trash.
Not at all White Trashy!
I, my friend, have class. I am so not white trash. . I am more than likely Democrat, and my place is neat, and there is a good chance I may never drink wine from a box.

Catch up in my World

Morning all. I am going to play catch up in my world this am. I have to leave for work here shortly so lets see if I can get it done!!

Saturday nite: Ok so Saturday afternoon I posted that I was going to try a new recipe. Its called Tangy Orange and Ginger Chicken. This is a very yummy dish. The rice that I made to go with it, since I cant do the fried rice thing yet, was cooked in chicken broth and its brown rice. Love cooking rice that way, gives it flavor. I really like stir frying... nice & easy, fast and very healthy. I tried to find the cookbook online but I cant. So if ya want the recipe you know what to do.

After dinner my hubby and I headed over to our friends pool and hot tub. They are away and asked if we could keep an eye on things and we could use the pool and hot tub... Yahoo love friends like that. So we relaxed for a little while it that.

Sunday: Sunday we woke up to some storms. Beautiful and gorgeous smelling rain. I love the smell of rain. Anyways it helped cool things down a whole lot. Able to open up doors and windows and give the AC a break, plus lite bill a break to...LOL Got laundry kind of caught back up and sort of just lounged around the house and did nothing. Sunday evening we ran over to my BIL's for a little cookout. It was ok. I really cant handle the cig. smoke any more and by time we left my chest felt like I smoked a pack of cigs. I cant believe I ever smoked and how bad it smells to boot. Awful. EWWWWWW!!! Now if you smoke I have nothing against you... that is your privilege and I know what it was like so dont take anything I just typed the wrong way... But YUCK!! Ok enough of that... Love ya all!! Anyways after we came home we hit the hot tub for another little relaxation thing. I need lots of that in my life right now.... So I take it whenever I can get it.

Monday: Monday morning I got up bright and early to head over to the employment agency. I forgot to take 2 forms of id last Friday so I had to go back to take their placement type tests. Really easy stuff. Then they emailed me 5 to take on the computer... typing, computer stuff, data entry, and so forth. I did awesome on the data entry, no mistakes and nothing missed. Typing I did ok.. I could have done better 52 words no mistakes. The other stuff missed between 3 to 5 things. Overall pretty good. I filled out all of the bank releases too so hopefully someone will give me a shot. We will see. I need to find something soon.

Also yesterday I recieved my card a week from my partner, Sue. It was suppose to be all one color. And it was beautiful. I love pink and this was just the most beautiful shade of pink. It was really hard finding a card with just one color. This weeks theme is much easier.... something with food on the front. I found a cute picture that I used for my card to send to her.

In the evening I tried another new recipe. This one was called Chicken and Asparagus Stir-Fry. Yes I am hooked right now on stir fry dishes. Just bear with me for a little while. This one was really tasty and it got my son to eat his asparagus, which he really dont like. I am all for that. The only thing that I had to leave out of the dish was the almonds, as my son is allergic to any and all nuts. I didnt get a picture of it so you will have to trust me when I say YUMMY!!!

Last nite I finally finished up my Red Heart Kiss yarn bear. This Kiss yarn is a pain in the butt to work with, but it makes an oooo soooo cute bear. I kind of think it looks a little like a kitty. I had to use an F hook for this one though cause of the yarn. And I kind of copied AJ on the ribbon idea. I think I got too big of ribbon though, but thats ok. I still think she came out adorable. I also used pink for the nose and I got some little bit bigger buttons for the eyes instead of the glass beads. This one I will be keeping. She already has a spot on my computer desk.

I was going to post all of this last nite, but I couldnt get my hubby and son off of the computer long enough for me to do it. And by time I did a friend came online and we talked. So I never got a chance.

Well there is my last couple of days in a nut shell. I have to leave for work here soon. So I am going to go for now. I will be back... Have a great day!!!!

Thursday and Friday

Thursday was my daugther's birthday. She turned 15 years old. Picture to the left is from the day she was born and she was 2 hours old there. She was a very easy delivery and all, but now that she is really getting into her turn years she is making up for it all. Seriously she is a really good daughter and I love her dearly. I am so happy that she is here and I would never change one thing about her. The other pictures of her and her cake. She loved the Pirates Movie and the guys in it that we got her a Pirates cake. The lady that makes the cakes(which has been the same lady making them since her first b-day) can do just about anything with a picture. My daughters most favorite saying her lately is "Bonchickabowwow ARR!! ARR!!" so we had them put it on there for her. Her and her friend that she shares her birthday with both enjoyed it. Her friend stands 6 feet tall and is 4 hours younger than my daughter. Her friends parents took the girls out to dinner for their birthdays so I could at least share the cake with her. They are great to her and vice versa.

Thursday also found me crocheting some preemie items. Our fearless leader in Cal Pals came up with an awesome idea to help out some charitable organizations that make crochet items. Some of these places dont have pictures for the patterns that they need made for different things. Well we get to make the items and share the pictures with them and send out the items to be donated. This is just an amazing idea and I am soooo proud and happy to be a part of it. Here is the one that we are doing things for right now "God's Tiny Angels". Go ahead and check it out. I am going to get some more stuff made to send. Hopefully get it all in the mail next weekend or so. These items are so teeny tiny that it is really hard to imagine it fitting a baby. The three patterns I did were "Easy Baby Mittens", "Super Simple Preemie Hat", and "Hat Patterns".

Friday found me babysitting to pay for my hair cut and color job. Both these kids are really good and just a tad bit noisy. But overall I had no problems with them. Their mother told me they would not take a nap. Guess what, they did to her amazement. While they were napping, hubby looked after them while I ran out and filled out a couple of more applications. One is for a rec center and the other was for a placement place. I am hoping that I can get hired on at the bank as a bank teller. We will see. Nothing else is panning out so hopefully either or will on these too. Not much else going those days. Just getting a little stressed over not finding a job yet. Oh well that is life.

Well I may be back later with todays happenings. I did try a new recipe that was awesome... So Til then......

Chicken simmered in Caramel Sauce

Wednesday nite had me trying a new dish. Chicken simmered in Caramel Sauce. This was a recipe that one of my Cal Pal friends shared with us. It came from Quick and Easy Vietnamese by Nancie McDermott. This was one of those quick and healthy meals for you. The only thing I was really worried about was the fish sauce you use in it. I thought for sure when my hubby smelled it first cooking it would say there is no way in hell you will get me to eat that crap. But everyone loved it!! It was awesome. I dont know if I should share the recipe or what.... I dont know how that copyright thing works with recipes... If someone knows or you want the recipe let me know... Ok thats it for now... Be back in a little bit with some more of what happened in my world. Til then......

*edited for the day I actually made this... not on Tuesday but Wednesday...

Saturday Sky

Morning all. Here is this weeks Saturday Sky shot. I actually took 2 because the sky looked so different from both shots. The bluest sky one is looking towards the south ( you know they say the bluest skies are in Texas...LOL) and the other one is looking to the west. Beautiful both of them. Suppose to be in the 90's today. I wish it would actually storm on just one Saturday for that beautiful storm shot, but needless to say we get the storms through the week and none on the weekend. I know heartbreaking isnt it???

In other news about this last week, I will be posting off and on all through the day about what has been happening in my own little world. So stay tuned.... Til later. Have a great day all!!!!

What flavor Ice Cream are you?

Evening all. I am still melting away from the scorching heat. And I didnt get to go swimming tonite like I wanted too due to BIL stopping over. And I cant get the hubby to go get me some ice cream. (yes I am being lazy) So since I can have the real stuff I figured I would share this with ya. Have a great nite all and Sweet Dreams!!!

You Are Strawberry Ice Cream

A bit shy and sensitive, you are sweet to the core.
You often find yourself on the outside looking in.
Insightful and pensive, you really understand how the world works.

You are most compatible with chocolate chip ice cream.

Number 2 of the Teeny Tiny Teddies

Afternoon all. Another of a scorcher day. One of those days that you stay in the house unless you have to go somewhere. I went to work this am and that lady is going to be the death of me. Where are those job fairies hiding???? Hopefully I will find a regular job soon, or those little old ladies are gonna get me. Anyways, while at work I finished the other teddy. This one is just a tad bit bigger than the other one. It stands at 6 inches and sits at 4 inches. This is another gift one. A pic by himself and one with the other. I didnt do the paw detail on this one, but that is ok I love it just the way it is. The next one I make is mine though and I am working on it now. Not much else to report right now. Will probably be back later, unless we hit the pool, which I am pretty sure we will. As hot as it is...So til later all. Have a great afternoon!!!
