One of the Teeny Tiny Teddies Done!!

Evening all. It has been another hot and humid day. The temps today reached a whooping 102* and there was a heat advisory for our area. It was miserable hot.

My daughter had band camp this am and by time she got home at noon she was about to pass out. She went back after lunch only because it was in the band room. After that they were suppose to meet back up for more field practice and I put my foot down and said tell band director that you would not be back and if he had a problem to call me. Which he didnt. This heat is just a killer. Now my son on the other hand would not listen to me if my life depended on it. Thank goodness the coaches were smart and didnt do the alot of energy ones and sprayed the kids down and ended early. They say we are suppose to have one more day of this heat and then some showers. They cant get here soon enough for me. Would love a nice big old storm for a day or so!!!

Called back to the eye doctor and they still havent started looking through the applications yet. Do you think you can bug some places too much?? Or does this just show I am very interested in the job?? I dont know, but if you have any fine words of advice, all would be greatly appreciated. Speaking of jobs, you know that lady that I always talk about. Well her friend needed someone to do some things like I do for the lady so I started working for her last week. Ok I was under the impression that I would work a couple of days a week, turns out only for a couple of hours and just one day here and one day there. Well she called me tonite and wants me to come work for a half hour tomorrow. Now I have a standing arrangement with the other lady that I am guaranteed 2 hours min. but I forgot to tell the other lady. What do I do?? I cant just go for a half hour it is a waste of gas and not worth the trip. But she does need someone and I would love to help her out, but in the same sense I dont want her to think she can just use me for a half hour here and there. I will figure it out sooner or later, hopefully sooner.

Ok I rambled enough about my life. Sometimes you just have too....LOL... But anyways, I got my Teeny Tiny Teddy Bear done. It came out just beautiful. I only got the darker one put together tonite and work on the orangeish one tomorrow. It measure 5 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches in sitting position. It is just a sweety. But I wont be keeping it. I am gifting it to someone. I hope they really love it as much as I do. I will be making a couple of more of these here real soon. They are definitely very addicting. Thanks AJ for getting me hooked!!!!

I do love the long posts, dont I?? I got my hair done and I think she finally got the color just right, well almost. I need a few red highlites in it and then I will be totally happy with it. I have her kids starting Friday. I do believe this is definitely a fair trade. And she got it cut just right.

Well that is about it for me tonite. I am going to go cool off and then hit the sack. Goodnite all and Sweet Dreams!!!!

Summer Desserts

Evening all. It has been another blistering hot day here, with a heat index of 105. Just plain out right too hot to do anything but bum friends pool, which we did. I am sorry to say I did not get any crocheting done. I had every intention of crocheting, but its like this.... I got busy reading in Cal Pals and then really busy yakking with a friend. Which was a little more important and really nice, exspecially since I wont get to talk to her for about 2 weeks. While I was talking with her I did manage to whip up a couple of desserts. Both are very easy and super fast, plus does not involve turning on appliances and heating up the house, which is a no go on days like this one. First one I did was called Double Strawberry Margarita Squares. This is a oh so yummy dessert. Tastes just like you were drinking Strawberry Margaritas. Very simply to make too. When I make this one the next time I will be making it with a graham cracker crust and turn it into two pies. This was a real big hit today. The next one I made was Oreo Ice Cream Shop Pie. This one is also really good. I made mine with an oreo cookie crust. Tastes just like having a hot fudge sundae with oreo cookies in the mix. Both are freezer desserts and very refreshing. Give them a try. This was also a very big hit.

Well this is about it for me. I have done all I can handle for the day. I stuff with delicious pork roast, mac salad, corn salad and desserts. I am tired from the heat and swimming. I am off to bed to catch some zzzzz's. Tomorrow I will be bothering the eye doctors about the job. Still keeping my fingers crossed on it, plus I made a deal with this lady for free babysitting and she is going to do my hair. She does my hubby's and does a great job. Got an appointment tomorrow. Gonna have her take about 3 or 4 inches off and color it... needs that really bad. I want to look more professional and it may help. Oh well if not I will think of something else. Have a great nite all.... Sweet Dreams!!!

Evening all. I dont know about where you are at, but here it is too hot to do anything. So all I did today was clean house this morning and went over and invaded our friends pool. I did manage to get some more bear parts done tonite and maybe tomorrow it cools down enough I will be able to finish one. Here is a little test for you to take. I thought it was pretty right on the money with me. Have a great nite all!!! Stay cool and Sweet Dreams!!

Many things

Evening all. Sorry again for not posting for the last couple of days. Life has gotten in the way of some things and then there is just the plain old laziness of not doing it. But I haven't forgotten. We are in a heat wave around the midwest right now and it is about to kill me. But thankfully we have friends with a pool, so if I don't post its because I am busy swimming at their house.

Anyways, on to what I have been getting in the mail here lately. I received my card-a-week from Sue. This one I really love. Just the cutest thing ever. Makes me think of Mary when she would play dress up and getting her hair done type thing. Aww the memories. Anyways this is really fun to get other mail once in a while. While I am talking about the Cal Pals thing, I have been receiving several packages from some of the ladies for my daughters birthday, which is next week (I will be doing an entire post just for her). These ladies in this group are awesome and I really appreciate that they are taking the time and getting to know my daughter and help with her passion for this hobby of mine. I am so glad that they are helping her appreciate it and not think that it is just some granny thing to do. Thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart. I will be posting pics of her opening her gifts. She is getting a little nosey too so I cant wait either.

Next on the list of receiving items in the mail. My One Skein Secret Pal that I got involved in. Check out the button on the side bar. This was a really neat swap and I would so love to do another like it. For the first two months she sent those beautiful skeins of yarn. I loved both of them. For the last month of the swap you are suppose to reveal who you are and make something with one skein. Well I absolutely love what she made. Not only that but it has been something that I have wanted to try and this just makes me want to try it even more. She knitted me a beautiful purse and felted it. OH MY STARS... It is just LOVELY. THANK YOU Jennifer. Just click on her name and pay her a visit. So far what I have read on her blog she is great and special. She really did a great job picking out colors for me, which she went with pink and then on top of it all she stuck this cute little bear in the bag...Thank you again it is dearly treasured. I love bears and collect them so this one fits right in with the rest. (I will take pictures of my bears one day, so be patient with me).

Ok speaking of bears... Remember the post the other day when I said I would probably get my bear done. Well I didnt. I decided that I wanted to make a few of these at one time. So I am doing all the body parts at once. Then I will assemble them at the same time. I really love some of this yarn that I got to use for the bears. It is super soft. And as AJ put it, it is fun using some of this yarn that I would normal not buy to make any afghan with or something of that nature do to the price. I also picked up some Red Heart Kiss in Cream to make a bear. This stuff is soooo soft and feels sooo good. AJ made a bear with this yarn in chocolate, I think, and it turned out adorable. I just had to have one too. I cant wait to get them done. They should be really cute and fit right in with the rest of my bears.

Besides working for the last couple of days nothing much else has been happening. I have managed to stay cool with the heat wave by bumming our friends pool. Which if I get all my house work done in the am tomorrow, my butt will be back over there again. Suppose to remain up in the 90's for the next week or so. Also the kids are finally done with detasseling. I am thankful for that. I really hated getting up at 5 am and listening to them whine about it, but wanting to make the money.

Lets see am I forgetting anything. Oh yea how could I forget. To all my friends who are all going on holiday(new favorite word since Karen used it... sounds so much cooler than vacation) without me... HAVE A GRAND TIME AND BE SAFE. I WILL MISS YA!!

Not much else... Gonna hit the sack and catch some zzzzz's... Wanna get the house done early. So have a great weekend!!! I will be back in the morning with my Saturday Sky.

SWEET DREAMS!!

A Gift

Morning all. I have a rainy and cloudy morning to start off my day. I didnt get to blog last nite or yesterday at all for that matter due to the devils wouldnt let me...LOL I got together with some of my blog friends and we basically chatted from the time I got home from work until I went to bed last nite. It was a blast. We laughed and talked for hours. They all are extremely talented, funny, generous, special, sweet, and the list could go on. I wasnt ever too sure about this blog thing. But the more I do it and the more people I *meet* the better I like it. There is some crazies out there, but then you get this one group and they are like best friends you have had since childhood. Its great, there is no other way to describe it. You really should check each one out. They all offer something different and unique to our little group. (Karen, Courtney, Lucy, AJ, and Michelle) So this post this am is dedicated to a GREAT bunch of Ladies. Thank you for sharing your time with me and making me laugh and feel good and not worry about the normal daily stuff. It was great and I hope we can make a ritual of it. I also recieved the sweet gift in the mail yesterday which made last nite even nicer. Thank you Karen. You are a very talented lady!!!

Well I have to go to work soon. Til later and maybe I will get to work on my teeny tiny teddy bear today...lol We'll see!!! Have a great day!!

Teeny Tiny Teddy Bear

Evening all. Tonite I am going to do a regular post, now that I got all my silliness out of me I will tell you how my day went.

I got up bright and early this am. I read on the computer about a couple of places that were hiring. One was at a eye doctors office, which by the way I am always at with the lady I take care of. So I got all dolled up and headed over there. I think I may have a real good chance with this one. Keeping all my fingers and toes and whatever else I can cross, crossed. Dont laugh but I talked my daughter into taking the picture of me. Plus as a bonus you get to see my beautiful paint job of one wall in the dining room...lol My hair looks awful here..but oh well life goes on. Another place that I hit up is at the Recreation Center, but the lady said she thought they already hired someone. I still will call them back in a couple of days to see. Got to find a job.

After the job searching I came home cause it hurts to sit in the car with the ribs right now. They are feeling about the same. Just keep telling myself not to sneeze, laugh to hard or cough. Which I seem to be laughing to hard alot here lately. I have some great friends that get me to giggling, you know who you are!! You guys are the best. Thank YOu!!! Plus I had to post some silly stuff on this old blog. Can you believe that I have posted a 139 entries already. Amazing for me.

I cheated on dinner tonite. Didnt really feel like cooking so I got to have Chinese takeout. Yum yum!!! After dinner I was a good girl and actually got some crocheting done.

AJ from This Life of Mine has been making these teeny tiny teddy bears. Someone from our little crochet group, Cal Pals, gifted her with the pattern. Well since that time she has been whipping them out left and right. Take a look at her blog, she is also an amazing photographer. Anyways, where she got her pattern for the bear they now have a free pattern posted for the teeny tiny teddy bears(do you know how hard it is to type that that many times while taking the pain killers, geez). This bear is called Monique and she is made with thread. I am not making mine with thread, I am using Red Heart Symphony in Earth Brown and this other fuzzy yarn. Cant remember what the name of the yarn is. It is really difficult to crochet with this yarn. I am using a size 0 crochet hook. I have the head, body and two legs made. I just cant work on it any more tonite. Fingers are feeling pretty fuzzy themselves right now. If all goes well I should have it done tomorrow.

Well that is about it for me tonite. I have to get up and go take care of the lady tomorrow and my daughter has to get up early again. She is working her little heart out. I think about another week and she will be done, well she will be done this weekend anyways. She starts band camp on Monday. I am out of here. Have a great nite all and SWEET DREAMS!!!

You've been Mooned!!

You've been Mooned!!!

Have a Great Day!!

Cracked Rib

Guess what I learned last nite. Remember when I posted about my hubbys family reunion. And I said something about sneezing and I heard something pop and felt it pop. Well, did you know that you could actually crack a rib from sneezing??? You can!! I went up to the hospital last nite cause I moved wrong again and had some horrible pain in my side. Brought tears to my eyes and I had a hard time catching my breath. Hubby forced me to go and have it xrayed. There is nothing they can do for a cracked rib either. It takes about 3 to 4 weeks for it to heal. Did give me some good pain killers though. I just have to remember to grab my side when I sneeze or cough. And I have a funny feeling that I am catching a cold which will not be good. My throat is getting sore. Wondering if you can do any more damage to the cracked rib??

Saturday's Rummage Sale

Saturday turned out to be a beautiful sun shiny day. I got everything set up and even had a few people early. Just not really alot of people were out and about. I did pretty well. Not as good as I normal do though. I didnt keep the junk. My hubby and I decided we were tired of messing with the stuff so we loaded it all up, except for a few collectables and my books and took the rest to the thrift store here in town. The money that the thrift store makes goes to help the Lutheran School so it was worth it. So for now my garage is still cleaned out and I will probably be putting a few things on Ebay. I wish it would have been better but thats life.

Be back later with more from over the weekend.....

Mix of Everything

Evening all. Where to start tonite. How about yesterday since I didnt post last nite. That is all hubbys fault, but I will get to that.

Yesterday I had to get up early to take the Lady to the dentist and grocery store. She had to be there at 8 am. While waiting for her I started a new dishcloth. Its a butterfly one. This *pattern* is another knitted one. I promise just a couple more of the knitted ones and then I will get back to crocheting. If you seen my dishclothes I have you would understand. They are old and nasty. Anyways it was fairly easy and fast. Plus the picture showed up better than the other ones. I found a bunch that I want to make. But so far this one is my favorite.

After work I came home and plopped on the computer to have a chat with Court and I got to talk with Karen. It is really fun to read about my friends lives and even get to talk with them... well kind of talk with them, more like type to them. Anyways... Thanks gals. It was great. They are both really sweet and great ladies.

After chatting for a little while I started dragging all my junk into my dining room for my sale tomorrow. Oh my stars, I have a bunch of junk. More than I realized. This is just some of it and you dont even see all the clothes that are covering my dining room table. Plus another huge storage container and two more boxes and a rack of books. It is suppose to be around 83 degrees with a partly cloudy sky. Hopefully, knock on wood, no rain. Perfect day for a junk sale. At least I hope. Whatever dont sale goes to the thrift store. I am done messing with the junk. When I took everything out of the garage my hubby was thrilled. I cleaned out a whole section. Yes I can be a pack rat at times.... but you never know...LOL Oh well after tomorrow it is gone one way or another.

I was going to post last nite... but hubby forced me to go over to our friends house to sit in the hot tub. I even missed Big Brother's All Star show and Americas Got Talent. It is all his fault... he told me I had to or I was in trouble.. Do you believe that??? If so I got some ocean front property in Arizona that I could sell ya...LOL

Today I work up to rainy days making me thing the weatherman may be wrong about tomorrow. But I checked the radar images and it should be moving out. I got everything priced today even while I was chatting to my friends.

While chatting to everyone and working on the pricing of items I made homemade from scratch brownies. I got this recipe from Foodnetwork's Barefoot Contessa. Its her Outrageous Brownies. I have made these several times and love this recipe. I do leave out the coffee and nuts though. My son is allergic to nuts and he dont like it if he cant have any brownies cause of them. Got to be nice to the kids once in a while. Anyways, a while back another friend from Cal Pals Tabby, posted a picture of a Brownie Sundae and got me to thinking that I could make one of those. So I made the brownies and for dessert tonite I had a brownie sundae. And yes I shared with my family, even though I didnt want to. This is one Heavenly dessert. Yummy....

Well that is about it for me tonite. I have to get up at the crack of dawn to get my daughter off to work and shower and setup the rummage sale. I dont think I will be getting any help. The lady that was suppose to do it with me and brought stuff over to put in it is heading out to the bars tonite. I dont think she will be over none too early. Oh well thats life.

Sweet Dreams my friends!! Have a good one!!

Illinois Knitted Dishcloth

Evening all. Hope everyone had a good day today. My day started at a bright and early 5 am. I remembered to set my alarm this am and got the kids up for detasseling. Hubby generously got up and took them to the bus stop for me. Then I got up and showered and dressed so I could go with my sister-in-law. She had a house to appraise.

Oh my gosh....I forgot how nasty some people can live. Going to this house with my sister-in-law brought back a flood of memories that I wish I could just erase. I dont know if some of you remember when I posted about my grandfather sent me a letter stating that I am no longer in his will. Well the reason for that is the woman who gave birth to me. I wont have nothing to do with because of what happened when I was a kid and all through my life growing up. I had a very different life then what my kids have had. I was the oldest of 11 and I had to cook, clean, and take care of my brother and sisters. We lived in houses that were just disgusting and were not fit to live in. Alot of things happened when I was a kid and none of it was good. Now I am not telling you this so you can feel sorry for me. I dont, it made me who I am today. But I want you to understand the feelings that I felt today. I actually cried from remembering. It was just awful and gross. Made me very thankful that I met my hubby when I did and he got me away from that mess. And also glad that I wont let that woman in my life again. Who knows what I would have done if I never moved away from it. That was just horrible today and I will never go with my sister-in-law again. Thanks goodness I am not an appraiser. Yuck!!!

Anyways on to happy things. After that awful trip down memory lane I came home and bugged hubby to get off the computer. Then I got to read a little before we ran to his friends house. The friend is going to help me with the sale Saturday and she is putting some stuff in it. So I helped with the pricing of her clothes and such. We were going to go swimming a little bit, but we had some storms that moved through our area. So instead when you have storms you go shopping... ok maybe you dont, but I do. Headed to the grocery store and did a little shopping. Came home and then plopped my butt back on the computer and talked to my friend Court. I dont know if she realizes it or not, but it is great chatting with her and she really does help brighten up my day. Thank you!!! While chatting with her I got dinner. Just something simply, tacos.

After dinner took the kids to youth group and then I got to plop my butt on my couch and knit. Yes I said knit. I am enjoying knitting up these dishcloths and tonites is a tribute to my state. Remember that really pretty blue yarn that I got from that yarn store (the one in the middle that was really exspensive that hubby said to keep), well I turned that in to this dishcloth. Now by the picture you really cant see, but take my word for it, it looks like the state of Illinois there with the initals. Heres the *pattern*. Now hers looks better than mine and you really can see the detail in it. I think the var. blue and it being handspun and hand dyed makes it so you really cant tell. But anyways I love it. And I have no big holes where I let the yarn get to loose. Hope you like it. I want to make a few more of these so bear with me.

Well that is it for me tonite. I have to get up early again with the kids and I even have to go to work early. The lady has an early dentist appointment. Which means I will get home earlier than normal and I can finish gathering things for the sale and make another dishcloth. Have a great nite all!!

Knitted Dragonfly Dishcloth

Evening all. How is everyones day today??? Mine has turned out not too bad. Even though I overslept and forgot to get the kids up. I couldnt go to sleep last nite. Just too wound up.

Yesterday afternoon we went over to our friend's house to go swimming. Ok let me be a little truthful here, they are actually my hubby's friends who have a pool and hot tub in their backyard, which in turn makes them my friends since we are married and are suppose to share everything. They really arent bad people, just dont have anything in common with her. I am totally suzy homemaker and she is party animal. Which isnt bad but you know nothing in common. Actually she is pretty nice, they both are.... I got to go swimming and sit in a hot tub... This makes me sound awful huh?? I love their kids. Anyways, we took over some brats and mac salad and baked beans and shared with them. They cooked the brats. Really nice considering the heat and humidity. And boy was it hot. Got home and took a shower last nite and then decided that 10:30 would be a good time to do the dishes and some laundry. By time I got in bed I couldnt go to sleep. Plus it doesnt help everytime I turned around I was sneezing. Doesnt hurt as bad today.

Well I was reading blogs and on Jaye's blog she made a Knitted Dragonfly Dishcloth. Now I do know how to knit, but I really have never cared to do it. But I really liked this one. And I am in need of some new dishclothes. I like the crochet ones, but the idea of having some with no holes(except for where I let my stitches get too loose) is nice. Also I used a size 10 needles instead of the 7's that it called for. Anyways I found a bunch that I would like to make up and they really dont take that long to make. Dont look too bad for me not really knowing how to knit that well. Dont ask for color changes, I really dont think I could do that. I did get me the Knitters Guide to Knitting from the S&B Series. So maybe someday I will sit down and try to do more, but for now be watching for some more dishclothes. BTW I am still working on my butterfly filet, it is just so hot that I really dont feel like working on an afghan right now. Oh and excuse the picture, I just couldnt get a good shot of it.

Well nothing else really. Went to work and came home. I going to go and watch a little more tv and try another dishcloth pattern. Have a great nite all!!!

PS Sweet dreams hopefully tonite so I can wake the kiddies up.

Hot Weekend!!

Afternoon all. Sorry I havent posted for a couple of days. But it has been unbearably hot. But I will get you caught up with what has been happening in my little world.

Saturday we went to my hubby's family reunion. Can you say rude, stuck up and snobby people. I knew maybe about, lets say 10 of the people there. The rest really didnt want to talk to anyone else if they did think you were up to snuff. The ones that came up from Texas stayed grouped together. I am still trying to figure out why hubby wanted to go. No one really talked to him either. And let me say that food that I slaved over on Friday, that I cooked from the time that I got up until about 11 pm and then finished up that delicious cheesecake on Saturday morning.... it got wasted with the exception to the yummy cheesecake. I was so mad. It was extremely hot Saturday afternoon and no one really felt like eating. There was even several people that left to go swimming. Well anyways.... all that food was wasted. There was so much and hubbys Aunt made it sound like they didnt have much. I was steaming mad about it. If I wouldnt have made anything there wouldnt have been enough. Some people...... Oh and let me tell you about the afghan that I slaved over and did a beautiful job on(yes I know I am bragging but I dont care). No one would tell me how much they got for it and not one person even mentioned that they liked it or not or whatever. They were really rude about the whole thing. We will not be going to the next family reunion. I dont care what hubby says. He can go without me. They all acted like they were better than us or something. GEEZZZZZ!!! Ok enough about that. Oh yeah, picture is of Mary, Me, Jeff, and Ryne. That was taken right before we left the park. Not too good, but better than nothing.

After spending 3 miserable hours with my hubbys family. We came home to take another shower. It was HOT....did I mention it was brutally HOT!!!! Anyways we went back out to hubby's Aunt's house to drop off some of my perserves that I made for the breakfast that they have the next day after the reunion. Now I know you are asking yourselves why I did that..... Well lets just say that I am that kind of person. I may complain once in a while, but if I can help I will....just my nature. Then we headed to the store to get a few groceries. Took the kids to youth group and came home. I didnt even get any crocheting done. One thing that did happen was I sneezed really hard this day and I think I pulled a muscle in my rib area or I may have cracked a rib....It hurts everytime I sneeze or cough or just plain move wrong....And I dont even have to move for it to hurt. I know I probably should get it checked out, but I probably wont.... We will see if it gets any worse.

Sunday was just as hot as Saturday. We stayed in the house and didnt do anything. I watched a little tv and took a cat nap. We didnt even cook dinner. I didnt want to heat the house up. Then last nite hubby decided to call some friends of ours to see if the pool and spa was open for business. They have a pool and hot tub in their backyard. Well we went over after the sun went down for some adult time. It was nice too. Jumped in the pool and got cooled off and then hit the hot tub to relax some muscles. Very tense muscles I might add. It was very relaxing and nice. Nope I still didnt do any crocheting....I know what a bum huh?? LOL

Today I have been getting things ready for a rummage sale. I have some stuff from last years left and we have clothes and books and sooooooo much junk that you would not believe. Hopefully I will get everything done by Friday so I can have the sale on Saturday. I got to watch the weather to see whats it suppose to be like to make sure it wont rain. That would put a bug in my plans if it does. I will be taking pics when I get a little more organized. Dont want ya to see my mess.....LOL. Well I still havent heard from no one about a job yet...So I may start bugging people where I put my applications in at and see if that dont help a little. For the rest of today I will be at our friends house in the pool and eating brats, brat burgers, beans, mac salad( Sue I am addicted to this stuff), and whatever else we decide to have. It is another hot day and our friend dont have to work today. Wasnt that nice of them to let us jump in their pool... Well til later all.... Stay cool and Have a great day!!

Saturday Sky

Morning all. Here is my Saturday Sky. It is a beautiful blue clear sky. It is suppose to reach a whooping 97 degrees here today. Thank goodness I got all my cooking done yesterday for the family reunion. Then all I have to do today is find a nice shade tree to park my behind under at the family reunion.

Today is my hubby's family reunion. Most these people I have only met maybe once. They are mostly from out of state. His family only has them every couple of years. I am hoping that my darling hubby wont make me stay there too long. We will see. My son will definitely not care. He is taking his fishing pole with him so he can hit the creek. I know I wont want to leave until they raffle off my Star afghan.

Yesterday I was busy. First thing that I did was take a resume out to this insurance company. They are looking for a secretary. I forgot to put down a couple of personal references. Do you think it would be tacky to call them back with a couple of people??? Or would that make me seem to pushy or would that show me as being really interested in the job???? I am sooo confused. Hopefully they will call me. I would really love working as a secretary. Then I also hit Sherwin Williams up. They are looking for part time help too. We will see. Still really nervous about it all.

After that I came up and precede to heat up my house. My house didnt even cool off until around 2 am. I made my famous baked beans. These beans I have been making since I was a teen and they are the best you will ever have. I love them to pieces. Everyone else loves them too and I cant even remember where I got the recipe from or what. I also made Sue's macaroni salad and patio corn salad. Those are the best and I would like to thank her again for sharing the recipes with me. I also made my grandma's lemon square recipe. Another recipe I tried was a new one and it is called "Wave Your Flag" Cheesecake. It is really easy to make too. I havent tried it yet, its for later. So I will let you know either tonite or tomorrow if it is worth it.

Well that is about it for now. I have to run to the store and get some drinks to throw in the cooler. Have a great day all and try to stay cool!!!

Hot Day!!

Evening all. I hope everyone stayed cool on this hot, humid, muggy, and overcast day. I know I tried too.

Had to get up early this am with Mary. She has been working her tail off detasseling. All I can say is more power to her. Working in the heat and rain with long sleeves is miserable. But she is seeing dollar signs and wants the money. I am really proud that she is developing a good work ethic and not quitting or wanting to take a day. Well she probably does want a day off but she knows she will get an excellent bonus for it.

I had to work this am. The lady had a dentist appointments, post office and grocery shopping which is easy work. Took my son with me today. She is just a really sweet lady who you cant help but love. She even introduced me to a friend of hers that is looking for someone like me to work with her. So I got another lady that I get to start taking care of next week. It is only for about a month. She had surgery and needs a little help till the doctor releases her.

I have been out seriously jobbing hunting. And let me say how hard it is when you havent had a real job in 14 some years. Alot of places dont even what to talk to you when they realize that you havent worked in that long of a period. Really depressing when you are trying you damnest to find a job. But I will find one if I have to flirt, beg, plead, and flirt some. Wonder if I wore a short skirt if that would help me any...maybe not, might scare 'em....LOL I just stick with the flirting that might do the trick. Well anyways wish me luck. Hopefully someone will call soon.

I have been working on my filet. I got a few more rows done today while waiting on the lady. Just no updated pics of it so far. It is moving right along beautifully. I love the design and I am very happy with the color. Of course I cant take a pic of anything crochet related without my lovely assistant...Rascal. Got to love the little ham.

Well thats it for me tonite. I have to get up at 5 am again. Kids get to work some more. And I got to make Sue's macaroni salad, patio corn salad, and my baked beans. I am even going to whip up some lemon squares and probably Karen's favorite, jello cake....my house is gonna smell heavenly tomorrow. Anyone want to come over and keep me company. Free samples....LOL Just kidding... Have a great one all!!!!!

Look what I Got!!

Evening all. This day has been a cloudy and cool day. Not too bad for the kids first day of work. We got up at a bright and early 5 am. They were ready with lunches packed by 10 mins to 6. They got really lucky and did only 4 hours in the field. It was a small one. Course they came home muddy as can be. Both of them have done this for the last couple of years. They enjoy making a few hundred each summer to spend or save. Mary usually does clothes shopping and my son is the saver. He still managed to have some from last year in his savings account. Thats good for a 13 year. The mail came today with my bookmark from my swap partner Jackie. She did a beautiful job on it. Thank you Jackie!!! Also was a really cute card with an elephants behind. I love it!! Also I got my card from my Card-a-Week Partner Sue. This is really nice to get this kind of stuff in the mail instead of the same old bills and flyers. I used to get postcards in the mail from my grandpa back when I was a kid and before he got to the point where he really cant read. It was always nice and I have all of them that he ever sent in a scrapbook. I dont know why I saved them but I did and it started a collection for me that I carry on to this day. I have them from all over the world. When people travel I always ask to send me one. I even have one from 1921 with a stamp from that time. Where was I before I started rambling. I am in the rambling mood so just bear with me. Anyways those were really nice to get. I have been working on my butterfly filet and I think I am on row 11. Tomorrow I should have enough so you can see the butterflies and flowers and to get a really good idea of the pattern. So stay tuned. Well I am off to bed. I have to get up early tomorrow. Driving the lady around for appointments and probably a little grocery shopping. Kids dont have to work tomorrow. Have a great nite all!!!!

I'm Beat!!!

I'm back. After I gave the kitties their bath I got some laundry done and made my baked beans. My house smelled yummy from them cooking. Then I didnt get to work on my filet afghan, instead I sat my butt on the computer and talked to a friend. It was really nice, almost like we have been friends all our lives. Have you ever done that and just make you smile and giggle and even laugh to where my hubby was looking at me funny. Well Thank you Court. It was really nice chatting with ya. After that nice long talk I got a row done on my afghan, which I did work on it last nite, but I didnt like how it was looking with the bigger hook so I switched to a smaller one. I ripped it out like 4 different times til I finally decided on the F hook. It is looking good now. The color I am using is Red Heart Frosty Green. Here is what I got done so far. I worked on it some on the drive to Morrison for my great nieces birthday party. BTW she liked her little bag and the sunglasses that I got her too. Anyways when I get off of here I may still get another row or two done. The party was ok. We sat a talked and sweated our butts off. It was extrememly muggy and humid out and we were outside the whole time. Definitely taking a shower in a bit....yuck!!! Well anyways it was nice and the bonus.....free food...LOL And it was good free food. Ok that is it for me tonite. Off to get a shower and a little crocheting. Kids have to get up early for work. They get to start detasseling tomorrow am. Have a great nite all!!!

Wet Kitties

Good Morning all. How is everyone's Sunday? Mine is not too bad if you dont count my stomach and nerves getting the best of me. This morning I woke up with Rascal pouncing on me saying please feed me, I'm hungry. His usual morning ritual. Feed the kitties and did the morning reading on the computer. I'm gonna be lost if I dont get thing figured out soon. Well anyways. Sunday in my house is give the cats a bath day. My kids and I suffer from allergies and when you have pets, well you know. Giving them a bath helps cut down on the loose cat fur. Plus I found this cat shampoo that is really good for them. I have two of the cleanest cats around. Pumpkin usual just sits there and takes it. He will only fight me when I go to dry him some what. Now Rascal is very vocal on what he thinks about bath day. I really do believe that he has Siamese in him. But I dont care, they smell wonderful and they dont shed as bad as when I miss a week.

Well that is how I started my day so far. I have laundry going and I need to get the load in the dryer folded. I'm also gonna bake beans for later today. We are going to Morrison to our great-niece's birthday party and my hubby volunteered me to make the beans. Wasnt that sweet of him. I'm off to get a shower. Til later..... Have a great Day!!!!

Easy Southern Banana Pudding

Ok here is what else that I got done today. My hubby was complaining that I hadnt made this, Easy Southern Banana Pudding. It is easy and very yummy. My hubby loves banana pudding and always requests it. I telling you it took a total of 15 mins to fix up. Go ahead try it!!!

Also, Mary got home from Rockford and informed me that her friend's mom got this really Cool Crochet book that I have been wanting and not been able to get. It has some of the prettiest sweaters in it. I definitely will be bumming the book and make some. It is called Cool Crochet. Go ahead check it out. I think you will like it too.

Well I think that is about it for me tonite. I havent been able to do anything on my butterfly filet yet. But I am going to go work on it now. So til tomorrow all. Have a great nite!!!!

By My Side Beach Bag

Alright I'm back for a few minutes. Hubby went to pick of my son from swimming, so I have a few minutes to post. I got to be a tester for Donna. She came up with this really cute beach bag. It is super easy to make and it only takes about an hour. She did an awesome job on writing the directions. I actually worked on this while my hubby was mowing our yard. I stuffed it full of sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and a pair of Disney sunglasses to give to our great-niece tomorrow. Her birthday is Monday and they are having a party for her tomorrow afternoon. I think she is only 3, cant really remember. We only see them a couple of times a year. Well anyways, after dinner if I dont go for a bike ride or even if I do, which will mean after the bike ride( ok I know I am rambling but bear with me). I will be starting on the butterfly filet. Ok til later gators......

Saturday Sky

Afternoon all. Here is my Saturday Sky shot. Check out the button on the left. Beautiful and hot and humid day. So quiet in my house you would not believe. Son went swimming and Daughter went to Rockford with her friend. Nice and peaceful....now if I could get rid of my hubby.....That would be just HEAVENLY!!!!! I will be back later with pics of new project and hopefully I will get some of my butterfly filet done. Till later, gator!!!

Mystery Pattern update

Real quick. Here is the Mystery Pattern with the latest rows added to it. I just finished it a short time ago. I had to get it done tonite, just couldnt wait. I still have no clue as to what it is. Almost makes me think of a doily made with yarn instead of thread. Really is pretty though. And Mary keeps picking on me and saying it is going to be an afghan. Dont think its that, but wouldnt that look so cool to have an oval afghan.....hmmmmmmmmm Need to think on that one. Maybe while I am sleeping tonite I will be able to dream up a pattern for that...What do you think???? Nite all!!!

A little bit of everything!!!!

Afternoon all. I hope everyone is a having a good day today. Mine is just ok. For the ones that I am close to on blogger I will send you a private message about what is going on. I dont want the whole world to know all my problems. And no DH its not my kids making me sad....LOL Though some days.....LOL So on a brighter note I have several projects and things I recieved in the mail to show everyone.

First lets start with the Little Star Afghan. I finished it this am. I decided, basically cause I was getting tired of working on it, to do the last row of blue in reverse sc instead of dcs. Let me say that it gives this afghan a very nice finished edge. It measures 78 inches from 1 point to the other point. And it covers me very nicely. I hope his family at the reunion on the 15th love it and buy lots of raffle tickets for it. I really love the 3D feel to it doing the colors the way I did.

Next of the list of projects is the mystery pattern. Heres the pic with yesterdays rows done. I havent gotten to the newest set of instructions today. Will do that after dinner tonite. Still reall dont have any idea what I am making. Its looking good whatever it is. I know one thing though. People if you do patterns take lessons on how to write them. The lady who came up with this one does not give clear directions and for the most part you kind of have to wing it to get it to come out right. Makes it very difficult sometimes.

Next I got my card from my Card-a-Week Pal, Sue. It has some swings on it. This weeks theme was Skys the Limit. You send a card that has something on it that you would see in the sky. Thank you Sue. On a side note, if you remember in the previous post that I mentioned that I made another bookmark. Well I forgot to take a pic of it, but Sue was who I sent it to for her birthday today. Anyways if you want to see it take a trip over to Good Yarns and take a looksee. She took a great picture of it. And dont forget to wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Also in my mail today I recieved my second one skein from my One Skein Secret Pal. She sent me some yummy yarn. It is kidsilk haze and oh my stars (my new favorite saying) is it ever soft and silky. Really pretty. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I LOVE IT!!! Plus as a nice surprise I got this cute bag. Its called a sock bag and it comes from trek casts on. I took a look at her blog and she has a sock monkey one on there too. This is a great bag. Thank you very much for this too secret pal. You are great.

Ok one last thing to show ya. Sue had made a comment that she would like to see some of my doilies that I have made. Well I dont have the pics taken yet but here is some other thread work that I have done. These cute things come from Leisure Arts "Romancing the Rose" pattern book. Here is a pic of it on Ebay. This has some really cute and adorable patterns in it if you love roses like me. I made these in americana colors of course. And they sit in this old 1890 trunk that I have sitting in my living room with my Boyds and Raggedy Anns and Andy. The little hat is suppose to be a pin chusion but I have it sitting on top of one of my bears. It makes just the right size hat for it.

Well that is about it for now. I am starting on the butterfly filet and will get something posted within the next couple of days about it. Have a great nite all and a great weekend.

PS if I forgot to talk about anything just remind me. I am becoming forgetful here lately.

Bookmark and Mystery Pattern

Evening all. Hope everyone had a good day. My day has been so so. Think alot has to do with stress and nerves. But I dont want to talk about it tonite. I have pictures of all the pretties that I have made and making.

First I will start with the bookmark that I made for my bookmark swap. My partner recieved hers today so I can show you pics of it. The bookmark that I made came from Leisure Arts Readers Choice Bookmarks. I havent done any thread work in a while. But she liked even though I messed up the flower. I made another one but I forgot to take a pic and I dont have it, so I cant even tell you which one. Sorry for pic being dark. I had a hard time getting a good one of it.

Ok next on the list of projects. We are doing a new mystery pattern at Cal Pals. I forgot to mention it yesterday. I know old age is setting in. But anyways, we are suppose to use three colors. The closest colors I had on hand was my americana colors. So that is what I used. I had to frog several times before I got this one right. I just couldnt get the pattern down for this. Geez I feel like I have been having senior moments all day today. But I did get it after ripping the last 3 rows out about 6 times. Still not quite sure what it is. We get another set of instructions tomorrow. Here is what I have done so far. Just 8 rows. Any guesses as to what this is????

Ok I was going to show some more of my crochet stuff, but blogger being blogger it wont let me upload anymore pictures. I dont know what the deal is with that, but I am beginning to think about find a new blog thing. This is really stupid.

I didnt get much else done today. I paid the bills and bought some groceries and did a little crocheting. I even manage to get a couple of loads of laundry done. Was gonna try a couple of new recipes today but I didnt feel much like it. Oh well tomorrow I will get to it. Not much else here. Have a great nite all!!

PS. Go check out Hooked on String. She has something really cute on her blog. LOL

~Happy 4th of July~

Happy 4th of July all. Hope everyone had a safe and great time. We went to my SIL's for dinner and it was pretty good. We didnt go see any fireworks like I was hoping but thats ok. Actually really nice day. I got the rest of my trim painted in my dining room. I even got some more crocheting done on my afghan. Just 4 more rows and then I am done. I know I will get to work a little on it tomorrow morning while I am at work. But then I have to clean house after the lady gets her hair done. Which at top speed I can get it done in an hour and half. Which means then I get to come home and do mine. Also do the normal paying of bills and little shopping since payday was a holiday today. Well thats about it for me!!! Have a great one all!!
P.S. I almost forgot....There is nothing left of the cake. It was delicious. You really should try it. Guaranteed to be one of the best you every try...Next to the Jello Cake that is...LOL

What cute animal are you???

You Are A: Kitten!

kitty catCute as can be, kittens are playful, mischevious, and ever-curious. Like you, kittens hate getting wet. Kittens are often loving, but are known to scratch or bite when annoyed. These adorable animals are the most popular pets in the United States--37% of American households have at least one cat. Whether it is your gentle purr or your disarming appearance, you make a wonderful kitten.

You were almost a: Monkey or a Puppy
You are least like a: Duckling or a TurtleWhat Cute Animal Are You?

Came across this one and thought it was pretty cute. Let me know what animal you are.

Monday, July 03, 2006

Ok I'm back. Here is what else I got done today. I dont remember if you remember when I posted about planting herbs in my side flower bed. I have tried just about anything and everything there. Well this spot gets direct, all day sunlight and I thought it would be perfect for basil, parsely, thyme, rosemary, and oregano. Well they finally took off and I got to really use them today. Hubby was telling me the other day that he was hungry for goulash. Well I dont know how you make it but I put in green peppers, onions, mushrooms, ground beef, elbow macaroni, and my homemade marinera sauce in it. It is more a fall winter food but hey if you get hungary for it make it and eat it. It was yummy. Exspecially smelling the the basil and oregano wafting through the house. Add into the mixture of the cherries cooking for the preserves and the cake baking. My house smelled heavenly today. Blogger is really (excuse my french)pissing me off tonite. I had a bunch of pictures and all kinds of stuff typed and whammo gone.....Ugh!!!!!!!!!

Ok lets try retyping this again. I got to sit down tonite and work on my star afghan. It is really turning out nice. I have 7 more rows to do and then I am done. So far the last row has a total of 650 dcs and when all is said and done it will have 790 scs in the very last row. I am going to do a row of reverse sc for an edging. The measurements so far are from point to

point 67 in and from center point to in between bottom two points 56 in. I am going to get hubby out of my bed when I am done so I can take the final picture on a king size bed to give you a really nice idea of the size. It covers me pretty good now working on it. And of course Rascal, I think, is beginning to believe its his. Its looking really good and I am happy with it. Plus everyone who has seen it so far likes it. I'm going to work on it some more tomorrow before we have to go to my hubbys sisters for a picnic and then more fireworks. Love them fireworks.

Well that is about it for me tonite. I was going to try and crochet a little more but with blogger acting up I guess its to bed for me. Have a great one all and a Happy 4th tomorrow!!!

A day spent cooking!!

Evening all. This is how my day has gone today. I got up and did my daily reading(which is really becoming a bad habit to hit the computer first). Took a shower and hit the store. I needed to pick up a couple of items for what I was going to work on today. I have basically spent all day in my kitchen.

I found the recipe book at the checkout the other day. Its called Jello & Cool Whip Summer Desserts. They have some really great Jello desserts in there. Which I am going to try one a week. Just for something fun and different. I made the Jello "Dive-on-In" Cake today(go ahead and check it out). It was really easy and fun. Mine didnt come out quite like the picture, but who cares. The point is I had a blast making it and I cant wait to taste it. No I havent had a piece yet, saving it for tomorrow to take to my hubby's sister's house for dinner.

While I was in the cooking mood I decided to whip up some Cherry Preserves. Yes I like my jelly, I really think this is due to my grandfather would always have bread and butter with some preserves that my grandmother made on it. Every meal he would have a piece. Kind of rubbed off on me I guess. But my two all time favorites are cherry and blueberry. I know I could probably get them cheaper at the store, but somehow mine tastes so much better. You should see my hands. They are so stained from the Bing Cherries. Plus I got them on sale. Yum!!!

I have more to post about what I cooked in a bit. I have to finish up the dishes since my daughter wont fill up the dishwasher for me...Be back later!!!

Small Town Fireworks

Evening all. Today was a sleep in kind of day. I havent slept in til 10 am in I dont know how long. It felt pretty good too. Had breakfast and got up on my blog and Cal Pals reading. Then I decided that I needed a shower. After that I picked up a little and got some laundry washed. I still have bunch to do. It seems that no one else in this house knows how to use the washer, but they like clean clothes.

While I was doing laundry I cleaned out my basket with my yarn in and of course Rascal thought it was his and jumped in it. He kind of made himself at home there. Watched Pirates of the Carribean with Mary while she made her bookmark for the swap and I worked on my star afghan. One thing I have learned that it takes much longer on each row as it gets bigger. But we are just about there. I have a total of 8 more rows to go and I should be done. After pirates I ran to the store and came home and fixed up tacos.

My hubby and I decided that we would see where there was some fireworks tonite and go watch them. We went to smalltown America, population maybe 2000 with about 3000 in attendence for the fireworks display. This little town that has no Wal-Mart puts on a hell of display. Beats out some of the bigger cities in my area. For an hour we watched and ohhhhhhed and ahhhhhed over the beautiful lights and the screaming sounds of the fireworks. I seen some tonite that after they went off look like little fireflies the red, white, and blue. The show last a whole hour. Just stunning. What better way to spend a little quality time with you fighting teens...LOL Honestly it was really nice for the hour that the fireworks were going off.

(off topic...anyone out there with teens who are trying to beat each other up constantly....It does get better, right???? Guess why I want to know. You know my two loving, sweet and adorable teens that tell me I gave birth to them, when actually I am beginning to wonder if they switched them at birth cause they act sometimes worse than they ever did being babies, they just couldnt be nice to each other if their life depended on it tonite.)

Ok where was I, Oh yay....Trying to decide which to go to tomorrow nite. It will either be another fireworks display or possible a pool party. Havent quite decided. And we are definitely going to a fireworks display in Iowa on Tuesday nite. They are suppose to have an awesome over there. I just love watching the fireworks. I guess cause I never got to go to them when I was a kid. Well that is about it for me tonite. Have a great day tomorrow!!!!

Hi all. I hope everyone had a good Saturday. Today was a hot and humid day. We woke up to the sun shining, then get a few clouds. Got a couple of sprinkles and then sun came right back out. What was really pretty was this afternoon, Sun shining bright and a beautiful down pour that only last about 15 mins. Enough to soak my car seat...LOL

Lets see....On Thursday I went with the lady I help to see Frank Pisani. We had some really good food and laughed our butts off. I love seeing this guy. He is awesome. I love his 12 days of Christmas even though it was June. It was all good.

Friday I manage to get one of my huge walls dry brushed with the faux finish. It turned out beautiful. I even manage to get the computer back in the dining room set back up. Which I am glad to have it out of the living room. Very crowded in there it was...

Friday nite had me crocheting. I joined in another swap. This one is for bookmarks. And even though I would love to show you I cant. Not until my partner gets it. So sometime next week I will be able to let you see my wonderful thread crocheting talent. For the longest time that is all I crocheted with. I used to make doily after doiley. I have some beauties that I made. Someday I will post pictures of them. I did a little bit more on the star. I think tomorrow I am going to work on it all day. Just to get it done.

Today was just another lazy day. Even though we are in AC it was still just lay around day. My hubby has an ear infection so he was not up for much. We did go see the fireworks tonite. It was really nice just to spend a little time together with the kiddies. Mary brought one of her friends. So I am going to leave you with a pic of my kids, hubby, and me. It was taken tonite. Have a great one all!!!!!

Saturday Sky

Morning all. This is just going to be a real quick post this am. I promise I will catch you all up later tonite on what has been going on in my world.

I came across this last Saturday on Crochet Dude's page. It is called Saturday Sky. Go read about it. Actually it is a pretty good idea. Check out the button on the side bar. Well anyways, here is my first Saturday Sky Shot. This was taken right outside my garage door. Kind of looks like we may get rain today.

I will be back tonite with some crochet updates and even painting updates. Have a great Saturday!!!
