Crochet Hooks and Kitty

Evening all. Hope everyone had a good hump day. Mine has been pretty good. Not a whole lot to report on today. I didnt get much crocheting done. Matter of fact when I am done here my butt is on the couch to crochet away.

My son had his last day of school. He pulled a couple of tricks on some friends, nothing really specatular either. He knows a few magic tricks and has been practicing them. Actually he is pretty good at 3 of them. He has always liked magic and being the good mom that I am, I support his magic habit. Ya know, buy the books that teach him kind of support. He is learning something so it is worth it.

I did try that new recipe that I talked about yesterday. Sweet and Sour Meatballs. Julie @ CAL Pals posted the recipe and Sue tried it first and said that they were yummy. And yes she is right they are. My hubby, who doesnt really like sweet things even liked them. I had them with mashed potatoes and fried green beans. And before anyone asks, fried green beans is just that fried with bacon and onions. This is the only way I can get my kids to eat green beans, with the exception to green bean casserole. If you try this make sure you use fresh green beans. You will be hooked.

Ok now for the title of todays post, Crochet Hooks and Kitty. Let me explain. When I got Pumpkin, who is my 3 year old tom cat, he was a good little kitty and would leave my yarn and everything yarn related alone. He even stayed off the counters and furniture, except for my bed. Then I decided that I wanted another sweet loving and good little kitty. Along comes Rascal. The name says it all. He is a little lover boy but oh boy watch out. I dont know if he is teething or what, he is going 8 months old. But he likes my crochet hooks. I have gone through several N and J hooks from this little rascal. Now he has decided that G hooks are more to his liking. I am on the 3rd G hook in a week. Yes I put them up at nite, cause that is normal the time he chews on them. When I say chew, I mean teeth marks and cant use said hook no more cause it catches on the yarn. Gotta love the kitty, but today he went beyond the nitely chewing. I left my hook with my yarn on my couch and the little devil chewed it up. What do you do with a kitty who has a hook fetish? Well if anyone knows please tell me.

That is about it for me tonite. I am off to do some hooking. Have a great nite all!!

Something about nothing

Evening all. Hope everyone had a good day. I had to get up early with the son. He now has one more full day of school and then we are done. After he left for school it was off to the shower and go to work.

I got the first two rows done on the next flag afghan. Nothing big to show right now. Give me a couple of days and I will post a pic of what I have gotten done.

The lady today was not feeling to hot. She kept getting dizzy and light headed. But she wont call the doctor. So I did a no no and lectured her just a little about taking it easy and to remember to call her daughter. I think I told her the last part about 10 times. Thinking she got just a litt upset with me, but she still likes me and will be over it tomorrow. We are going shopping tomorrow and I love to go shopping with her. I have alot of fun taking her to the stores.

After work it was come home and figure out the bills then off to the bank. After that pick son up at school, because this being the day that he has to clean out his locker and didnt want to ride the bus home type of day. Thats ok I paid him back and made him go to the store with me. I was going to try a new recipe today, but the store had these awesome burgers on sale and I had to get some and try them.

Came home from the store and asked hubby to start grill for like 25 mins. He finally starts it and get the burgers going and then it down pours. We are talking flooding the streets coming down hard and fast. But anyways...the burgers were great. I dont know what they put in them but the yummy. Going back tomorrow to buy some more for later.

After dinner hubby and I went to the tanning bed. And then to my favorite store, Wally World. I ran into one of the ladies that work back in crafts and I got to talking to her telling her what I am making. Well she has only seen bits and pieces of what I make and she wanted to see the flag. So being the nice person that I am, I told her I would bring it back and show her. Well I do like showing off my work. She loved it. Her eyes have gotten really bad so she cant crochet anymore. She is really nice. I think that would be the only thing that would kill me, not being able to crochet anymore. It is like that helps me stay sane when everything around me is falling apart. It makes sense and no one can mess it up for me. Hope you understand what I am trying to say? It dont sound right to me but oh well.

Well after sharing what I made, I got to looking at the squares that I am making for share-a-square and decided that I would like to make one of each square for me. As soon as I get them all made up I will share with you. I am going to make all the squares in the burgandy, tan and navy blue colors that I am doing the flags in. I have two picked out for my day to post one, two just in case someone picks one of mine that I like. I cant show them to you yet, but Monday I will be able to. I did this one in the americana colors and it is beautiful. I love this one square. Really I promise to share and tell you where it is on Monday. Just stay tuned.

Well I told you in the title this was something about nothing. LOL I am off to have a long soak and then bed. Got to work in the morning, if you call getting paid to go shopping work. Have a great nite all.

Flag is Finished

Afternoon all. Hope everyone has had a good weekend so far. Mine has been pretty basic everyday normal stuff. Yesterday was a quiet do some laundry, run to mall(which only consists of 10 stores and one restaurant kinda of place) to find me some shorts and cook a little dinner. Got most of the laundry done, finishing that up today. I had alot a good luck finding shorts. My daughter was even kind and helped me. No fights. This is very good for us. I have come to the conclusion that we are just too much alike and cant get along. Keeping fingers crossed that when she is an adult we will be the best of friends. Anyways on to dinner, we had brats on the grill, nothing spectacular.

Last nite I worked on my flag afghan and I got it finished. Well actually I finished sewing it together this am. But it is done and it looks beautiful. It measures 45 x 70. I am going to be starting another flag afghan later today. Probably right after I get off this addicting thing. This one is suppose to be a bit smaller, but I think I am going to use a bigger hook just to make it a tad bit bigger. It also almost looks the same but it is a bit different. It only has 13 stars sewn in a circle. Kind of like the one Besty Ross made. One will be going to my hubby's family reunion to be raffled off. The other I get to keep. I am thinking though that I will eventually make me the other one to have too. We will see.

I got the next share-a-square pattern yesterday and finished the square up. This one I worked up in the tan and cornmeal colors and it was really simple to do. Very fast to crochet up. Its called Antique Pearl Square . I think you will love this one. When I first looked at it I thought it was done with popcorn stitches and its not. Give it a try.

Just a side note. My arm is healing very nice except for the hives. I found out this week that I am allergic to either the bandages I was using or the ointment. WEll that is about it for now. I need to check the dryer and washer and get my butt in gear and get some more crocheting done. Have a great Memorial Day!!! Til tomorrow.

First Rose Bloom this year.

Evening all. Hope everyone had a good day today. Mine has been pretty good. I got to sleep in this morning, even though Rascal tried to wake me up early.

I managed to get another square done for my share-a-square. This one is called Daisy Square. I did it in my favorite colors lite pink, rose, and dark sage. It was really a fast work, the only thing it was not 6 inches so I had to add another round of dcs to make it work out. Still nice though.

It was a beautiful warm day until this afternoon when we got some thunderstorms roll in. Awesome lightening display and the cloud formations were out of this world. Then cleared up like nothing happened. Right after the storm I went out and took a picture of one of my roses. I dont remember the name but it is pink and gorgeous. Smells heavenly too. And while I was eating dinner this evening, Half Pint (the squirrel) decided he was hungry too. He came up and looked in my door at us asking where is my food. He drove Pumpkin nuts waiting for me to get him a granola bar. I got one for him and he took it and climbed up my crabapple tree. We have been feeding him since he was born last year and just gave him the name. He is half the size of the rest that live right around here. He also lost half his tail towards the fall. Just fun to watch what they do.

After dinner my hubby and I took a bike ride down by the canal. It was a nice bike ride and I needed to work out my leg from the other day. My knee is still a little bruised but after the ride feels not quite so stiff. It was really nice except for the mud flying up my back. I had a nice racing stripe. LOL

I am just about done with the flag. Should have that wrapped up tomorrow and will post a finished pic of it for you. Then I am going to start another flag one, slightly different pattern though. It is from the Leisure Art book 12 A Year of Afghans. Thank you Lucy at Folk_n_Fancy. I love this pattern. This one will probably be for my hubbys family reunion raffle in July. I would say perfect timing.

Well that is it for now. Til tomorrow. Have a great nite all.

Hmmmmm????

Evening all. Hope everyone had a good day. Mine was great. It turned into a beautiful spring/summer day. Sun shining, birds singing and no clouds in sight. I had a good day at work.

You know some days you just dont want to work and then there are those days that your boss spoils you. The lady is taking me to see Evita at Fireside in Ft. Atkinson, WI on June 17. My hubby has heard from several people that the food there is to die for and the lady has told me the same thing. She said it is beautiful up there. I cant wait. This is the perks that make me want to keep working for her. She has her days and then others I am like one of her kids. Got to love it. I promise to take pics and share with you all the experience.

Today was my daughters last day of school. The son has to go Tuesday and Wednesday next week and he is done. Making the daughter take Algebra this summer. I want her to understand so she will be able to do well with the rest of math through high school. She is not to thrilled about it, but I the mommy and what I say goes. Besides she will thank me one day for this. Not sure if I will have enough for a tutor, but Staples has an algebra computer program that I can get and go through it with her. Plus I should refresh myself with it anyways. We will see what pans out. The son I dont have any school worries about him so far. He is in gifted classes and most of the time gets bored. They canceled his games this week, so maybe next week I will remember to take pics at his game.

Want to hear something really cute. You know Rascal, my kitty, he likes to play fetch. I have this little ball, that is really tiny and soft. We got it for him when we first got him. Well he loves it and chases it all the time. About a month or so ago I started tossing it and he would chase it. Well now when he wants you to play he will bring it to you and drop it by your feet. If you throw it he brings it back. He will do this about 20 or so times. It is really cute. I have never seen a cat do this before. Just thought I would share.

Here is the square that I didnt post last nite. I love this one. It is really dark sage and lite pink. The color didnt turn out so well.

Well that is about it for tonite. I am going to go to bed. Really tired today. Have a great nite all!!!!

Made a Mistake

Sorry all. I am short one photo. Seeing as how it is late and hubby getting upset and I need to go to bed. I will post the last square tomorrow nite. I dont know how I missed that one. Well til tomorrow.

Photos of Crochet items

Evening all. Hope this finds everyone had a nice day today. Mine was not too bad. I didnt have to work today which was a good thing considering I still ache and my arm hurts when I bend it. Overall you could be worse. It will get better.

As promised I have pictures of the squares I made for the cal share-a-square that I am involved in at CAL Pals. They are as follows: Fisherman's Ring, Tropical Spring, Tic Tac Toe and last but not least Carousel Square. They are all beautiful. The last one gives you a choice to do it with one or two colors. I like it best with the two colors. You see the design better, that is in my opinion. The colors I used are in order of the squares: Teal, Varg. (for the life of me cannot remember name), {light pink, med. pink, and rose} and {light pink and dark sage}. Hope you like them. Tomorrow there will be a new square posted and then on Monday it is my turn to pick one out. I already have one picked out and made. But not going to post it til Monday. I did it in the americana colors I am using for my flag. And since I am talking about it, I have a pic of it. I need to finish 3 more rows and sc around, then sew on star field. This one does not call for a edging, but I am going to do a reverse sc around after I get the star field sewn on. Plus I am plugging away on my summer swap. Cant share that with you right now. Have to stick around and wait. I dont want to take a chance that my partner reads about it here first.

Well that is about it for tonite. Hope you all had a good one. Til tomorrow. Have a great nite all!!!!

Update on my wipe out!!

Evening all. I hope everyone has had a good day. Blogger has been being a pain and it finally let me post some of my pics from Monday. I have more and I will post them over the weekend. I took something like maybe around 50 some pictures. They are really good ones too. We had a blast.

For everyone who wants to know. I have several bruises done my right side. I know I am still fairly young, but let me tell you I feel very old tonite. I am sore and stiff. Thank goodness I didnt break anything. I would post pictures of my boo boos but I dont even like looking at them. My elbow makes my stomach upset when I have to change the bandage. Needless to say I am ok, just very sore.

On to more important matters. TAYLOR HICKS WON!!! Now I am excited for him, but I still liked Katerine too. I know she will go on and get some kind of record deal. Actually the whole show tonite was awesome. All the singers and everything. Very well done.

Well not too much else. I have a square almost done for the share a square deal at CAL Pals. Really pretty. I will get that one and all the other ones I have done posted tomorrow. Plus a nice pic of the flag afghan. It is almost done. Til then. Have a good nite all!!!!

Field Trip to Navy Pier in Chicago

Hi all. Here are some of the pics I took Monday at Navy Pier in Chicago. I will let them do my talking. The one pic of helicopters is Blackhawks with the President in. My son got that one while on the ferris wheel. Hope you enjoy them. Tomorrow I will post some crochet related pics. I have a bunch that I havent put on here yet. Have a great nite all.

Wipe Out

Evening all. Just very short and brief. I am still around. Just havent really had time to sit down and type alot. Made it to Chicago yesterday. Have tons of pics and will share in the next day or two. I messed up the whole right side of my body this evening. I was on the way to a concert in the park. Middle school and High School Bands played, which means both my kiddies played. We only live about 4 blocks away and we have always rode our bikes to the concert in the park. Well today I volunteered to bring my son's sax for him. I dont really know what happened other than I lost my balance and the sax case went up under the front tire and threw me. It has been 20 some years ago the last time I wiped out. Well I have road rash and bruises now. Even my hand is messed up. Dang it hurts too. I forgot how bad. Well I will see how I feel tomorrow and will try to get my Chicago pics posted to share with you all. Thank you everyone for the nice wishes. Well I am off to watch American Idol that I had to tape....I still made it to watch my kids perform. Have a great nite all.

Just another Day

Evening all. Not much happening today. My son had the sniffles this morning and I kept him home. He is feeling alot better. I think some was the asthma flared up too. Better though, thank goodness. Means Monday is still on for us. He did miss baseball game tonite from missing school. Thats ok too. I went to work this am. The lady's glasses came in and they still arent helping her. But we did hear of a doctor that does laser treatment on some eye patients and she might be able to help restore some of her vision. But have to wait til the end of July to get in. And I think I found another private care that I will get to start in a couple of weeks. Means more money and we definitely need that, exspecially with Mary starting drivers ed next year. Will know for sure by the end of next week. Working on my summer swap item, so I cant really talk about it yet. Still chugging away on my flag afghan. It is looking good. Will get some pics taken soon and update you on how it looks. Probably wont be until this weekend sometime. We will see. I would like to get the stripes done first. So keep eyes on the look out for it. Got Mary mad at me and then she got me mad at her. I guess that is how it works between moms and daughters. She cant understand why I dont want to dress like her. We had a little disagreement over what I should wear Monday to go into Chicago. Needless to say I dont want to dress like some teeny bopper....I think she looks adorable most times but I cant wear hip huggers or let everything hang out....yuck... So needless to say I didnt find anything today. Going to go shopping by myself tomorrow. Hopefully I will find something nice to wear, ya know capris, nice shirt, and maybe a jacket or sweater. We are going to be on the lake. Didnt do much cooking to report about tonite. Hubby forgot to take out meat for meatloaf. So it was the famous BLTs for dinner, with fresh lettuce and spinach leaves from the neighbors garden. mmmmmmmmmmmm. Well I guess I have bored you enough for tonite. Have a great one all.

New Look

Evening all. As everyone can tell I decided I needed a new look today. Just went with the basic dots. Not a whole lot happening today. My hubby and I went out to lunch at this great Italian joint. They have the best pasta crocks and lasanga around. They just remodel this restaurant and it looks amazing. Used to be small and crowded, now it is huge. They have alot of antique instruments and Italian signs hanging around. I kinda, sorta wanna do my kitchen and dining room to look like this place, minus the instruments. Working on that. Hopefully within the next month I can start. We have just one more week that we can go to lunch without the kiddies, so next week is the new restuarant in the mall. After that today did some shopping at my favorite store, where else than Wally World. Hubby saw this new yarn, it is orange and black....Harley colors. He is insisting that I make an afghan for him with it. Doesnt even care how much it costs. I would have bought it today, but Monday is my son's and mine field trip to Navy Pier in Chicago. Saving money for that. Want to go shopping. I cant wait. It is going to be fun, boat ride and Imax thearte too. Next year it is going to be Blue Man Group.....Definitely will be there too!! Last week was Mary's band concert and this week was Ryne's band concert. He is still in middle school and he has one of the best band teachers around. I love her to pieces. She really works with these kids. And this year she did awesome. Even got my son to play a solo at contest and he got a 2nd for it. It was an extremely hard song too. Well anyways here are his pics of tonite. He kept hiding so I didnt get a very good one at the school of him, but oh well what is a mom to do??? He plays the sax. Hopefully it will stop raining and I will be able to take some pics of his baseball games. His other favorite hobby. And the other big news of the nite.....TAYLOR AND KATERINE ARE IN THE FINALS......WoooooooooooooHooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I dont care who wins. I like them both. GO Taylor and Katerine!!!!

Well that is about it tonite. I'm off to bed seeing as I have to get up early for work tomorrow. Have a great nite all!!!!!

Forgot to Mention

Evening all. I hope everyone had a good day. Mine has been a blast. I will tell you all about it, but I forgot to mention yesterday about what else I got in the mail. I told everyone about an online savenger hunt that I did and won. Well I got a new pattern book in the mail called Wash & Wipe. It has 14 dishcloths to crochet. Totally awesome. Going to be making some one day in the future. Adding it to the list of many projects that I want to make. But just in case Julie reads this, Thank You again, I love the book. Now on to today. I got to work this am and my lady was in high spirits, that is after a rocky weekend of losing her checkbook. She had called me on Sunday and asked if by chance I had stuck it in my purse, which I didnt and I suggest to look at a couple of places where she keeps her purse. Still no show of checkbook. She went to bank on Monday and got stuff switched around, only to go home and find said checkbook in the garbage. But what really put her in high spirits is the faith that her family and even the bank had in me and knowing I had nothing to do with it coming up missing. It actually made me feel pretty good too. Just to let everyone know, she never thought I took it or something like that. But boy am I glad she did find it. Not the first time she threw something important away by accident. Will remember to have her check garbage next time anything like this happens. Ok now where was I, oh yes high spirits. She got her hair colored.....this is never good the first week or so after color, but what can you say, I got her to laugh and she was happy again. We even got shopping done and she tried the tanning salon with me. And LOVED it. Totally cracks me up. After all that we went to lunch and then done for the day. Plus on top of the little neat things we did today....She gave me $100s for my birthday, which is on Saturday, when I turn 21...ROFL Well after all that excitement the only other thing to do is put the mystery box in the mail, get the corn beef(that cooked in the slow cooker all day in apple juice) ready for reubens and watch Idol. Reubens were awesome and oh my gosh, let me say if you like corn beef try cooking it in apple juice. It gives it the best flavor, you just wouldn't believe. And now for Idols, OH MY GOSH.....this is too close to call. But I would say for sure Taylor and maybe Katherine. I really think Taylor may have this one in the bucket. I just love him, but I would be happy if Katerine won too!!!!! Well Not to much else. You know where I will be tomorrow nite..... Til after Idols....Have a great nite all.

PS.... I forgot to mention what Mary picked out of the mystery box. She got the Idiots complete guide to crocheting and knitting. And she is teaching herself how to knit. For those who would like to know, she has a week and 1/2 of school left and depending on her grades she will be allowed back on the computer, unless they are horrible. But I think she finally brought them back up to where they should be. Plus I may have found a tutor to do her Math for like a summer school type thing to help catch her back up. So she will eventually be back. Just be patient. I had to play the bad and mean mom. Ok nite this time for sure!!!

Mystery Box

Evening all. I hope everyone had a good Monday. Mine has been filled with vacuuming, washing down cabinets, dusting, laundry and more laundry. I am finally caught up on my housework. I still need to clean the carpets though. I may do that next Monday. I even gave the cats a bath today. They usually get one on Sundays, only because we all have allergies so bad in this house that it helps cut down on the dander. I found some really good cat shampoo for them....so no one get upset that I am hurting the little babies. They are actually the cleanest, softest and best smelling felines around our great town. LOL I got the mystery box in the mail today from CAL Pal Theresa. Julie our great leader who started up this group for us started it. She put some pretty cute things in the box. I cant mention though cause some of my pals who are doing this read my blog and shhhhhh it is a secret until they get it. Will try and remember to post some stuff about it when it is done. I can tell you what I took out. First off my hubby snagged some candy (sugar babies and tootsie rolls) and I got a pattern book, Better Homes and Garden Crochet for Everyone. It has a really cute granny square skirt in there that I am going to try and talk Mary into wearing if I make it for her. *winks* I think she will if I do enough sweet talking and maybe bribe her with something. Plus it has a couple of cute totes and a purse that I would love to make. Mary got something too out of the box and I cant post that until she posts first, so stay tuned. And also today I found out who my summer swap partner is, Amy. I already know what I am going to make her and you know I cant tell you that either. I think she will really like it and appreciate it. At least I hope. Well not really too much more. Still chugging along on the strips of my afghan. Til tomorrow. Have a good nite all!!!

Happy Mother's Day

Evening all. I hope everyone had a Great Mother's Day. Mine was good. Almost got to sleep in except my hubby's father called to wish me a good day and woke me up. Tried to lay back down just couldnt. Kinda just spent the day lounging and watching the kids play Mario on the Cube. Did a couple of rows on the afghan or should I say Rascal wore himself out working on it. Here he just had to take a nap working as hard as he did on it. And then saying hey look what I have done. What you cant see is the length. You dont work the width on this one. It is actually pretty long. Will get a better pic of it tomorrow. Watched the season finale of Survior and was very surprised Terri didnt win. Oh well that is a game for you. Just never know. Well not really too much else. Going to go and try to crochet a little more. Until tomorrow. Have a good nite all!!

Rainy Day!!

Afternoon all. What to do on a rainy and cloudy Saturday? Nothing much but want to sleep all day. First I like to say thank you to all who gave nice compliments on my daughter. Yes I am very proud of her and she sounds beautiful on her clarinet too. Next week I will post some pics of my darling son. He has baseball games and his band concert. So I will get to brag a little about him too....So stay tuned. Really havent done much today, just normal grocery shopping and such. Getting ready to make fried chicken strips with jan sauce and mashed potatoes. I dont really fry too much but they requested this so I figured I would be nice. I was just working on my flag and hopefully tomorrow will be able to post pic of what I have done so far. I forgot that I volunteered to make an afghan for my hubby's family reunion, so I have decided to make an flag one for that. His reunion is in July and I though it only fitting for that month. Plus I think the flag would get people to buy more tickets for the raffle than some other simple plain afghan. Today while at the store I picked up a scrapbook for Mary and me to start keeping track of our crochet projects. The crochet group, CAL Pals, that I am involved in suggested it and it is an excellent idea. As soon as I get stuff put in it will take pics. Well not really too much else. Allergies are acting up again causing my throat to be sore, this time it is going into my ear. I sure would be glad when this season gets over and done with. Well everyone have a great nite....

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!

First Project I ever made!!

Evening all. On this crochet forum, CAL Pals, that I belong to, we have been discussing starting a journal or scrapbook of our crafts. That got me to thinking. I have the very first thing that I crocheted when I was a kid. You can definitely tell that I was not very good at it yet. All my stitches are really loose and oh my gosh, the loops are stretched. It is a butterfly with a pineapple design in the wings. I am almost positive that I can make another from looking at it and think I might try once my afghan is done. That should be soon. Well anyways, I made it in pink varg. thread, yes my first project was done in thread. You have to remember when I first learned, I watched my mother and when she would go to bed at nite I would pick up her afghans and work on them. Took her a couple of years to figure out who was doing it. Ok I got sidetracked there. But I still have it stained and all.

Today has been a rainy, windy, and cold day. And I got to drive all creation for appointments with the lady I help. It wasnt too bad just long. Then I came home and had to get dinner right away. Found out they canceled my son's game because of the rain. My daughter, who you all know as Crochet Princess, had a band concert tonite. And let me say breathtaking and a totally awesome performance. Their band teacher is brand new this year and at the Christmas concert, well lets just say not very good. The students werent giving him any respect and not really listening to him. Well he struggled all year and probably had a nervous breakdown in the middle of it all, but he got through to them and oh my gosh. Way to go Mr. Brusseler. It was wonderful, they did some music from Wicked, which I found out it about the witch from Wizard of Oz. Anyways I thought I would say a couple of pics of my darling daughter. In the one she is the fourth one in with glasses. Isnt she beautiful.

Well that is about it for now.... I have worked some more on my flag. I before I forget to mention I have the rest of the mystery pattern and need to finish the square so I can post it. It is a pineapple square and you can make 12 of them to form an afghan. Well as soon as it settles down, which will be this weekend, I will get it done and post pics. Have a great nite all.

What to do with Ripple??

Just really quick note. That yellow and blue ripple that I made and couldnt decide what to do with it. Well I have some elderly neighbors that live about two houses from me on the corner. The man has lived here all his life and his family owned all of the property around us and even where my house sits. It all used to bean and corn fields, well anyways..... My hubby was talking to him tonite and when he came home and told me that they have not been doing to good and going in and out of the hosiptal, I said well why dont I give them the afghan. Let me tell you how good it felt to see their eyes sparkle over the gift. His wife loved it and they are her favorite colors. I feels good just to give someone something and not expect something in return. Well just thought it would be something nice to share with everyone.

On a side note.....Katherine is saved tonite on Idols, but then Chris had to go home. Still thinking it is going to be Taylor..... Keeping fingers crossed for him and Katherine. I would be happy with either. WEll this time it is nite for sure. Have a good one all!!

Star field Done

Evening all. Sorry about not posting yesterday. It was very busy here. We also have been having problems with our cable, which in turn means no internet or email for me. And that stinks. I have been fighting with cable company to get it fixed. I almost didnt get my answers sent for the savenger hunt. Well lets back track. Yesterday I went to work and did the normal stuff. Got to crochet, which I got a bunch done on my flag. I got almost all the stars sewn together while at work. By time I got home I had to go to the bank and pay bills so no one would disconnect me. You know lights, cell phone, cable, and gas....The really important ones. LOL By time I got home it was time for dinner, meaning I had to cook. Was a good dinner....chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy. Yummy. Then after dinner went back to work on the star field. Got all them but one put together and realized I was one short. Well I was thinking that is good I bought an extra skein of the blue. Get it all crocheted, start sewing it on and notice that the blues are different. *crys* Rip it apart and run to Walmart to see if I can match up the blues seeing as how they dont have a dye lot number. I got lucky and found one that matched. Got that done last nite. Then finally got back online and searched for more answer for the hunt. Did you know that there was a president who crocheted? Can anyone tell me who it was. I know. Will give answer tomorrow nite. And the first granny square pattern was published in 1897. I got that one wrong, I was close though with a guess of 1899. It was alot of fun anyways. Well on to today.... I cleaned the lady I help carpets today and she paid me what she would have given the professional. I did a very nice job, even if I have to say so myself. With the money I got a new scanner, copier and printer. It is super nice. Plus now I can scan photos of items that I made before my digital camera came around. After that I finally got a couple of grades straightened out for my daughter. The teacher was trying to give her an F for a survey that was mailed to me. Then he tried to call it extra credit, when do you give a grade for extra credit. Made a call to the her counselor, then my hubby talked to the teacher and hung up on him, cause he is a dumb butt and then I just called the principal and he is taking care of it for me. That will help her grade somewhat. HOpefully she will do better in the next couple of weeks and it will be ok. Keeping my fingers crossed. After that got printer hooked up and caught up on my reading on CAL Pals. Hopefully later tonite I can catch up on my blog reading. Dont know I am pretty tired from all the complaining and cleaning of carpets. But on a good note. I talked to my sister today and she was thrilled beyond words with her afghan. She told me thank you numerous times and was bragging to everyone that her sister made it for her. And not only that, but the colors that I did are her daughters school colors. How cool is that??? Well I am off to watch American Idol, I have a feeling that Catherine is going home tonite. Dont want to see her go. Well have a great nite all.

MOre of mystery pattern

Evening all. I hope everyone has had a good Monday. Mine has been pretty good. Got four more rounds done on mystery project. It is starting to look really nice. Hubby says just ok....looking for a ball bat. I got his just ok. It has a pineapple motif in it. Still not too sure what it is, but I will keep going at it. Finished putting all the blue on the tan stars at my son's baseball game. Will get them sewed together tomorrow at work. Son won baseball game and he got to play 3 innings tonite. Much happier this week than last week. He even hit the ball. Then he got walked and almost made it to 3rd base. He didnt slide or run fast enough. He was still happy though...that is all that matters. I had it out basically with my daughters math teacher. He gave her two Fs for extra credit papers. I called the school ripping about it. Needless to say, those grades were removed. It wasnt fair that he did that. They were not even math related. One was a permission slip to post her grades and such on the internet and my hubby and I decided against it and the math teacher did not like. She has a hard enough time with the math, dont be giving her Fs for something that is not math related. He is a very horrible teacher. I heard from several parents about him and none of it was good. Just a few more weeks and then we are done with it, hopefully..... Other than all the above I manage to do some deep cleaning in my house. Almost caught up the laundry even. Well not much else. Will post pics of the star field tomorrow nite. Have a good one all....

Star field started

Evening all. I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine has gone by pretty good. Yesterday was a lazy day and visit with the neighbors type of day. Today we got the front flower bed cleaned up, tomatoes planted and hen & chicks replanted. I picked up two tomatoe plants, one is a Mr. Stripey heirloom and the other is a big boy. Everyone says that the heirlooms are better, lets hope they are right. Last year I had my hens and chicks planted in a strawberry pot and they kids knocked it over. I picked one of again when I did the blueberries, just never replanted. Maybe tomorrow I will remember to get pics and post them. I have been working on my flag afghan. I got some of the stars done. Didnt do too much today on it. This is how far I got so far. Also started a mystery pattern today. I got the first four rounds today. Tomorrow she will put up some rounds. I figured I would use the rest of the yellow and blue from the ripple up for this. It looks pretty good so far. Also I dug into my recipes and made up one that I got from my grandma. She used to make this one all the time when I was a kid. Lemon squares. Now my daughter and I are the only ones who like it. So this is one that I get to share with my neighbors. They love me when I bake stuff and we dont eat it all. Well not too much more for me. Feeling kinda of out of it today. Hope everyone has a great nite.

Ripple Afghan is done!!

Evening all....I know it is late but thats ok. I have a really good excuse for why I didnt post yesterday or earlier. First the one for yesterday. I got so into finishing the ripple that I was too tired to post. It was well past midnite before I got done. It turned out really nice as you can see. Still dont know what I am going to do with it, exspecially seeing as nothing in my house are those colors. This crochet forum that I am involved in is doing a mystery box and maybe I could stuff it the box when I get. We will see. And the excuse for today is my cable has been messing up on me. I could receive email but couldnt send any and then I would lose my internet. Right in the middle of typing something and then poof it was gone. But I think they have it fixed now. Nothing much going on except that the lady I help, well she got really jealous yesterday when she thought a friend of hers was going to ask me to come and work for her. It was kinda of funny really, you should have seen her face. Oh boy was she jealous....green eyes reared their ugly head...LOL... She dont want to work me but she dont want me to take on other jobs. I told her she cant have it both ways. I have to make money my habit is expensive....that is yarn habit. Well anyways she is working me a few more hours now. My other biggest problem is my daughter and her grades. We got mid terms and I just want to strangle her. First off she is struggling with math....she always has and it does not help that she has a dumbbutt for a teacher who doesnt teach very well. Then could someone please tell me how you can get a C+ in English(partly cause she didnt turn her book report in on time) and an A in French. Geez I just dont understand. Gotta love them teens though. Ok enough about that....she will bring her grades up or she can be grounded for the rest of her life or until she moves out, whichever comes first. I have started a new afghan. It is a flag, I know I said I was going to do the double wedding ring one first, but I changed my mind. I am allowed to do that. This afghan is a real quick work. I have made a couple of these in the past and sold both, now I want one for myself. It is from Leisure Art Crochet Collection book. Sould have it done in a week or so. Here is what it is suppose to look like. It is just gorgeous. I am doing it in navy, burgandy, and linen(kinda of tan). Still havent heard from my sister to know if she got it. And I dont want to call her yet cause then she will know something is up. I didnt tell her I made it or sent it to her. I wanted to surprise her. Well I should hear from her tomorrow or Monday.... I think I am forgetting something but I cant remember what.... Well maybe it will come to me later. Thats about it for now.... Have a great nite all!!

Tornado Pics!!

Evening all. I am going to post some pics of clouds forming tornadoes through out this post. Someone sent them to me and I thought they were just stunning photos. Ok I tried to post more of them but blogger is being stupid. Will try again tomorrow. I hope everyone had a good day. Mine wasnt too bad. First I got woke up by Rascal, my kitten. He has this thing that if my hubby gets up to go the bathroom around 5:00 that he needs to get up too, which basically means that I have to wake too. You know how you shake someone to wake them up, well Rascal will actually use both front paws and shake me and if that dont work then he will lay down next to me and start crying. It almost sounds like he is crying mom. This am he decided that a little love nip would work and it did. The little turd. Got to love him though. After that get kids off to school and I cleaned the lady I help house today. Then made my way to Wally World to get a few groceries and I found some more herbs to put in my herb garden. I already got to cut the parsley, basil, and rosemary down. Now I need to know how to dry the rosemary before I have to trim it down again. Will look into that tomorrow after work. I got 2/3 of the way done with the ripple. Will post a pic tomorrow of it. Went to my son's first baseball game of the season tonite. They won 3-0. But my son was really ticked that he only got to play one inning. I understand that he likes to play and wants too, but he doesnt quite understand that some games you just play one inning and then others you get to play more. He did get to bat twice. That doesnt matter to him though. Last year he mas mad that they never won and he got to play all the time and this year he is mad that they won but he didnt get to play that much. I guess maybe I dont understand. Oh well. Last but not least, *crys* Paris had to go home from American Idols. She was really good. But someone had to and it is getting down there now. Well that is it for tonite. Hope everyone has a
good one. Til tomorrow.

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

Hi all. I hope everyone had a good day. Mine wasnt too bad. First thing this am I had work. The lady that I help/take care of changed the hours that she wanted me to come, which is good for me. Now I go first thing in the morning and we get appointments out of the way and the rest of the day we can shop or I get to come home and clean....what joy....NOT!! But in all fairness it is nice this way. I dont feel like I am starting something here at home then have to leave in the middle of it. I hate picking up something after a couple of hours exspecially if it involves my cleaning. I like staying in a routine. I know boring, but it makes life alot easier. After work I can home and got my bike down and went for a small bike ride. I have to slowly build myself up so I can start riding it to work. Gas prices being what they are, plus the car needs a vacation. I got all my dishcloths mailed off today and as soon as everyone gets theirs I will post em. I think they turned out really nice. I started working on my ripple afghan and I had forgotten how fast it is. Really simple and easy. I should have it done by this weekend as long as nothing happens....knocking on wood. Nothing much else except for American Idol. I think they all did pretty good. Not sure who should go home. They all had one good song and one bad one. We will see. My son has his first baseball game of the season tomorrow nite. I hope this year is a better year for his team. Last year did not go too good for them. But he has all new members on his team and a new coach so maybe it will be good. At least he gets to play, I guess that is all that matters. ooooo I almost forgot. Tonite my son got to play his sax with the best band students from the area schools for the Festival of Bands. They only pick the top students from the schools. He said they were playing college level music and it was extrememly hard. But he loved it, you could tell by the way his eyes just sparkled when he was talking about it. I am very proud of him. WEll I think I have talked your ears off now, so I will let you go. Have a great nite all.

P.S. Still no pics. I will try and remember to take some of the lilacs in my backyard. They are in full bloom and my house smells just heavenly from them.

May Day!!

Afternoon all. I hope everyone had a good weekend. Saturday was just a bumming around the house day, except for when we went out to dinner and then usually Walmart shopping. Everybody has been talking about how their Walmart craft section is restocking the yarns. And how all was looking bare, welllllll my Walmart is still bare. It looks like someone threw a bomb back in the corner of the store and they havent fixed it yet. Really wish they would get some yarn in or somebody is just beating me to the store and buying all the yarn. I dont know but I am getting tired of it. I did pick up some cotton yarn to make some dishcloths and I would show you but you have to wait as they are for a swap that I am doing. Sunday was a I dont want to go no where and stay in my pgs all day long day. It rained here all weekend so kinda of sleepy lazy days. All I did was some laundry and watch tv and course crochet. It was really nice actually not to have to go anywhere. I got the afghan mailed off to my sister this am and I should know by this weekend if she likes it and she got it ok. I didnt even call her to tell her it was coming. I wanted to surprise her. Thinking she will like it. Well as you can tell nothing really note worthy is happening here. All I have done so far today is go to the tanning bed. It really helps alot this time of the year with asthma and allergies. Plus I get a tan!! I think my marina sauce is done simmering and I need to run it through the food processor. Gonna make goulash this evening for dinner and this sauce just makes it taste ohhhhh so yummy. Have a goodnite all.

P.S. Sorry no pics today. Will work on that tomorrow.
